training question

my pup is a year old. trees almost nightly, coming along very nice, what do I need to work on at this point with him?

Iknow that he justs needs time in the woods, but was looking for any advice?

depends on what you are looking for . do want the pup to be really independent or would you rather it hunt with company? does it have any bad habits?
I may not be able to help you but these are some questions some of these guys may need to know the answers to before giving any advice.

Bridger80 - Would you happen to be an Ambridge Bridger? I'm right up the road if you are. Grew up in Beaver Falls and live between BF and Ellwood City. As to your question...if he is treeing nightly and doing well for a one year old I would say keep doing what you're doing. I would be a little careful of continuing to pull a 12 month old pup off a tree without their due reward. I'm not saying you have to go crazy about knocking coon out to him, but, an occassional reward won't hurt. Once they get through their first season you can back off shootin coons. My three year old hasn't had a coon since Feb. and I granded him out this spring. As a matter of fact he probably hasn't had 25 coon his whole life, but, he did get one now and then when he started.
