I am in State College, Pa about 45 minutes away and we have a handful of State Gamelands in Centre County and I have some farms I have permission on.

About an hr. and a half southwest of there. Number is below in the post. Your closest coon club would most likely be Washingtonville.

the population around here ( central PA) is sorta thin, if we tree more than three coons in a night that's a very good night!! But we have a lot of porcupines in Central PA, they just came back an it's not fun! Now in other parts of the state there isn't hardly any porcupines, But if you ever wanted to break a dog on Deer, possums, an porcupines this is the place to hunt!!

LOL we carry pliers with us every night! we have a pup that has gotten quills 7 times! i'm not joking either, its to the point now that i don't think he feels them any more! But a "smart" dog usually quits with porcupines after the first time they get quills, i'm not quiet sure whats wrong with my pup!

I think Chief finally learned, he found a baby one on the ground and got about 15-20 quills in the side of his mouth. I believe he was baying at it and it smacked him with its tail otherwise he would have had a mouth full. He came out to me in a full sprint shaking his head, he had no desire to go back towards it. So hopefully he is broke off them.

Well thanks goodness he didn't get a whole pile of them in his mouth! and thats a good sign when they don't have a desire to go back for more!

sounds rough. lol mine won't even kill a skunk he just bays it and lets it spray him so hopefully he won't get any quills. He willl barely fight a coon. He loves them but is no kind of kill dog what so ever. What kind of hounds do most people run up there?

I'm to the west of all of you. over towards the lake. here we have porkys. my blue dog got into one. he looked like a pin cushion. he grabbed the thing and killed it. had quills down his throat. vet had to take a special camera to check his stomach to make sure he didn't swallow any. but we also have fishers over here too. didn't know if they were showing up on the other side of the state or not.

We do have a lot of porkys here (central Pa) we are aloud to get rid of them now, we have been having trouble with one of our dogs getting quills but we never had them as bad your dog had them! but my dad told me that Pa along with some other northern states are the hardest to hunt because of all of the junk for a dog to run, i never got to hunt in another state but i think it would be fun!
