i used to feed it but some of my dogs did REALLY well on it and some didnt, my one dog was on a self feeder and he was healthy but too skinny for my liking, and the other was fed 2 cups a day and was always chunky...
but my dogs always had good coats, teeth and always are energenic. it's a good food, i never had any PROBLEMS with it but i have found ones better with different foods due to the protien and fat percentages

I feed Purina Dog Chow in the spring and summer months and swap to Purina One in the fall and winter. My hounds do very well on Purina.

I recently switched to Dog Chow. The dogs eat it well and look good, no excessive clean up either.

Totally agree. Worst dog food made...corn is the 1st ingredient

Dogs are like people, some get fat & some dont. Why do we feel we have to chase different dog foods? Regardless of what vet's will tell you table scraps will do maricles and that means wheat products, vegies, dairy products, sweets, salt etc. I personaly dont like the hi protien in the summer. I have a litter of pups and im feeding momma hi fat and hi protien and her hair is comming out in spots. I cant afford to feed Purina One, feed dog chow for years and had no problems. Just feed what works well for you and dont worry. JMO

I'm feeding it right now and dogs are doing good on it. I'll switch back to One or Pro Plan when it gets cold.

my dogs do real good on it. i know there is better out there but like the one fella said...wal-mart is open 24-7 and that is nice. i mostly feed sport mix with the meat meal for the main ingredient but if i dont make it to the feed store they get dog chow. i cant afford the black gold stuff...wish i could though!

I fed alot of chow for yrs, but the points games and the pricing games turned me off....decided to try the Diamond with no corn as ingredient.....the extreme athelete is about as good as it gets I'm thinkin...........

i remember when we fed whatever we could get hold of and dogs looked good and lived as long as most do now. i feed a good feed, but afraid if i say the brand it will anger someone and then we off chasing rabbits. Chow has worked for me and held dogs good. I went to a better feed because of clean up and smell. Just like the post before...feed what works for you and your budget. Chow has been around lots longer than most of these other feeds combined. I don't feed it but it is my second choice. i personally don't care for diamond but many do, so the choice is yours to make.

i dont think its worth the money for a 44.1 lb bag . dont know what it costs you but in wv your goona pay bout 20-22 dollars a bag for a 21/10 blend of feed . you can buy high end , alot better feeds for that money . i feed diamond maint. blend and pay 19.88 a bag for it . the dog chow has a first ingrediant which is yellow corn that i dont like either . i feed it for proally 5 years or so when it was 11 or 12 dollars a bag , you couldnt beat it , my dogs liked it back then but always had loose stool . i think its a alright feed but not worth the money !

I have fed dog chow and the dogs fell off quick. I feed Sportsmans Pride 26/18 now and its an alsome feed. Its meat based, chicken is the 1st ingredient, stool is tight and 1 pile a day. Got 4 dogs and a $30 50 lb bag last 2 weeks.
