They look like Whitey bred dogs to me. Extra ugly. I got a couple here that match them. They do look like they're in rough shape though.
I wouldn't rule out the possibility of them being cross bred, but I got a male pup here that is long haired and just as ugly and is line bred on Bozo and Logan's Wild Clover.
Unless your buddy bought them for the show ring, I wouldn't worry about it. The prettiest hound in my yard is my least favorite in the woods.

If these dogs have papers ,then tell Us how They are suposed to be bred and one of us walker guys can easily tell You if dogs that look like they do could be bred like that.

While they could be full blooded Treeing Walkers there is NOWAY anyone can look at these pic's and say 100% yes or no.

If the pups are reg you can DNA them and if their parents are DNA'd you would know if the papers on them were right.

Whitey was a real houndy dog I know because I laid hands on him just before he tried to bite it off. Although he was houndy if that bloodline is line bred very much they can get awful ugly. I don’t mind one colored ugly at all but I don’t know if I could handle any that looked like that.

There were 3 or 4 very uninformed post's before you read the post or replied. I assume they were deleated by the authors of said post's. I also assume you are yelling at me with your capitalization in the above responce. Dave
