Some people likes a certain type of bloodline in their breed. They try to get a lot of that certain line of dogs but do you think the old blood shows up ?
I believe a dog only shows it's 2nd or 3rd generations. JMO

i would guess that backmassing heavy might would enhance the chances of seeing that old blood manifest itself in new stock. i'm thinking most don't breed tight enough for that to happen. i would also guess it depends on how dominant the particular dog was in the breeding pen, be it male or female. that's just a guess though.

i beleive in breeding good dogs to good dogs and good bkloodlines to good bloodlines,but i beleive the all breeders cuccess relys on there cull program.most people ive known in my lifetime as well as my own,the ones that have good dogs have a strict cull program.opps should i have not used the word cull.
What I'm asking is this, some liked Nailor so they breed heavy nailor dogs to get another Nailor but do they, Ratattack,Sackett, Ozark Screaming Bo but do they get that type of a dog . If so look like you would see it wouldn't think.
To me it's like people ,kids are more like a mom or dad than they are like their great great grandpa .

my feeling is after the 3rd generation any blood is so watered down it really dont make any difference. unless you are heavy line breeding. to me this is the only way to stay consistant on what traits your breeding for. (line breeding) useing only a couple different lines only with same traits over & over. every time we make an out cross we loose alittle more & a little more till what we had is gone.
the hardest part is being truthfull with our self that some thing we produced even if its good is not exactly what we want to continue breeding to improove what we got & keep what we had.

I agree Jim you don't get much after the 3rd gen. Not saying you want get a lil trait out of heavy line breeding but trying to get another exact same Tenn Big Wheel or River Bend Flag ........I don't think so.
