Go to the farm store and buy some permethrin 10 concentrate. Mix one oz to a one quart spray bottle of water. This stuff works great. I use it on my dogs to prevent flees and ticks. It is a product for all live stock. But works well for dogs too. I spray the dogs, in and around the kennels. It controls flies and mosquitoes as well. I also spray my pant legs before hunting and it keeps the ticks off me.

I live in a river town and had ant problems in my house and it fixed the problem.

I have been using this product for 5 years with no problems, just good results.

Seven dust around the pen might work.

EASY & SAFE

We have EVERY kind of ant that exists in TEXAS & I keep them away from bowls & feeders this way: Go to Walmart & get the gallon container of "Home Defense". Put the nozzle on "STREAM" and put a boundary around the outside edge of pens & kennels. All insects will stay away. It lasts several months or until you get a heavy rain. If you want to spray inside where dogs are, I suggest wait until spray has DRIED before putting dogs in contact with sprayed area. IT WORKS!
Also great for keeping the house insect free.

GOOD LUCK

It is dry right now. I know it is here anyway. That is something you will run yourself ragged over. They are in search of moisture. Ants have been around since before humans. They will survive you can spend all kinds of money trying to keep them away. Not much is gonna make any difference. Just put the amount of food out that they can eat in a short time. The ants are hurting your feelings and not bothering the dogs.
