Can a dog be entered with puppy papers with the conditional entry format?

Only permanently registered dogs may be entered in UKC Licensed Events. Even with the addition of Conditional Entries. Check out the Advisor Column in the March Issue. It goes into further detail regarding entering dogs as Conditional on puppy papers.

I denied a entry request like this Saturday nite, and later received a call from this guy informing me that his entry was being accepted at another ukc hunt. We need to get this added to the conditional info in the hunt pack. Thanks confirming my thoughts.

Joe,

Anytime such an entry is accepted, (dog still on puppy papers and not permanently registered) and the dog were to win, UKC's records will flag the entry if we attempt to process such a win.

Really, it's not the official or entry takers responsibility, when a participant enters a dog as Conditional, to know the status of the dog unless they are attempting to enter with puppy papers. Nor will it be held against any official if they accept an entry as Conditional and it turns out the dog is not yet permanently registered. It is the owners responsibility to be aware of the status of their dog and to know that it won't do them any good to enter a dog that is not permanently registered.

Joe, just to be clear, the official is not held responsible for taking such an entry "if" they enter such a dog as Conditional.

If they show puppy papers......different story. NEVER accept it as Conditional or otherwise.
