What??? Does that include the WMAs? I haven't herd anything about that. If they did, that will be a big mistake. They will be begging us to hunt them in a few years.

Thanks, I looked, but couldn't find any info that was up to date. Not many days in the season.

Either, they don't want rid of them as bad as they let on, or something else is going on.

I guess the TWRA is trying to make sure TN is as infested with hogs as the rest of the south. They are really raping the hound hunters in this state and they have the support of a lot of cowardly deer hunters to do so. We as a state just voted to have our hunting and fishing rights protected by the constitution of the state, and just months later they are alienating and criminalizing a complete segment of hunting community. Hound hunting is a vital tool in the effort to control the hog population and MUCH more effective than any other method.

The director of the TWRA said they were modeling their policy after the state of Kansas where there is no season and no hog problem. What an idiot!!! There has never been a hog problem in Kansas to compare to what the south is facing.

We hunted one day in Catoosa this year and killed 6 hogs in a matter of hours and they all became food for someone. The TWRA is going to take a lot longer to kill the same amount of hogs and them they are going to let them rot and become food for the coyotes.

Speaking of Coyotes if the TWRA thinks that limiting the hunting of a species is the best way to get rid of it they should outlaw coyote hunting, which is open 365 days a year with no limit.

I know an older man that grew up hog hunting with dogs in Florida to feed themselves. He lived thru the time when each family had to have a ticket to get commodities during the war. He said back then each person would have a land claim to hunt and nobody else could hunt their claim. He told me they stopped the hog hunting with dogs around the 70's or 80's. I remember the stories from the guys down south that would come to work about how they would hog hunt with dogs and only used big knives to kill the hogs so they wouldn't get caught hog hunting. The state had to open it back up when the hogs got out of control. I got a friend that went down to central FL to an eradication hunt and hunted off them swamp buggies. These ranchers have some serious fire power to make sure they kill as many hogs at one time as they can. I know that for the first time in my life that hog hunts with dogs are open all year on the WMA that I hunt. It is not even closed during turkey season. Regulations were changed to allow all hunt party members to have a gun when it used to be only gun per party.
