Nc Coonhunters Act Fast!!

I recieved this e-mail from Henri (NC SPORT DOG), . It is imparative that we as houndsmen call (919) 733-4111 and ask for the representative your county. If they can't speak just ask to speak to someone. Further contact info is in the e-mail. Speak your mind to these elected officals as to why we are against these issues. At the least call and tell them to please vote AGAINST HB#755. Act Fast before this gets slipped through and we are one step closer to having our rights taken away. Here is a run down of the bill.

URGENT: “Amend Fox Laws” House Bill #755 will be heard 5/31/11.
Call or email the NC House Agriculture Committee members immediately!

HB#755 to be heard Tuesday, 5/31/11 at 1:00 pm in Legislative Office Building Room #643

Today Joe and Henri spoke with House Agriculture Committee Chairman James H. Langdon. Representative Langdon stated HB#755 WILL BE HEARD and VOTED ON Tuesday, 5/31/11.

The Proposed Committee Substitute first seen on 5/24/11 would give the Wildlife Resources Commission the rule-making authority to open seasons for fox trapping; designate red and gray foxes as “fur-bearing animals”; make foxes subject to trapping rules; delete the ban on taking foxes with electronic calling devices; and other provisions.

HB#755 is a PRO-TRAPPER effort to open all foxes to trapping. Rep. Efton Sager is fully supportive of this bill, and is scheduled to chair the Committee on Tuesday, 5/31/11.

The NC Sporting Dog Association continues to oppose HB #755, even considering the changes. We are deeply concerned about this attempt to consolidate power in a government agency to the exclusion of elected legislators. Hunters must not lose our right to petition the legislature on hunting issues. Act now to save fox hunting!

Contact all members of the NC House Agriculture Committee. The Representatives have gone home for the weekend. Please contact them in their home districts as much as possible this weekend. The NC General Assembly website has the home contact information: www.ncleg.net.

With courtesy and respect, politely ask each Representative to vote AGAINST HB#755.

If you do not reach them at home this weekend, please call the NC General Assembly telephone (919) 733-4111 and ask for any of these individual Representatives. You may leave voice mail messages. To leave voice message over the weekend, locate individual legislative office direct telephone numbers, addresses, and individual email addresses at the following link:

Not being a jerk...but at a quick glance it looks like the bill is for fox hunters and trappers...why would a coon hunter care to oppose that bill??? Doesn't seem to effect coon hunting?

Yes sure just care about yourself and your kind of hunting.Throw the other types of hunters under the bus because a bill doesn't affect your game of choice.
What a guy.I know you are not the only coon hunter who looks at stuff that way.But yet you all cry about other hunters not wanting to help out coon hunters.
Where I come from we call people like that one way jerks who care only for theirself.

Don't throw me under the bus! At a quick glance, its a pro trapping bill and gives the WRC the fox laws...didn't read anything about how it effects hound hunters....

For the record, I am currently in NC and have plans to run bear and deer come fall....and I hunt most everything and I'm also a trapper...I'm ALL for hunters rights even if I don't partake in the activity...we need to stick together and fight for eachother...not against eachother....

I know you give em an inch and that's the end they keep on taking...

Just didn't read how it effects hound hunters....that's why I'm wondering why the opposition...looks fine from what I read...but I didn't look up the bill to read it...

There is so much that gets slipped through in Raleigh, you have to read the fine print and be intelligent enough to see the agenda. There has already been bills proposed that would affect coonhunters and even though this may not seem to affect "coonhunters" it will. It may not affect our generation but it will affect future generations. One day if we are not careful, running dogs will be a thing of the past. Take a minute and look up NC Sport Dog and give Joe and Henri a call. They will be more than happy to speak with you and tell you all about the mess that goes on in the capital. Seriously, take a minute and educate yourself and join the fight to protect our rights as "hunters" . Thanks to everyone who tried to call, I hope everyone will try and get in touch with someone and speak to them on Tuesday morning. Thanks again.

Hunters must not lose our right to petition the legislature on hunting issues.

This is the main reason for calling, most of the politicians have never hunted, much less ran dogs or even heard of coonhunting. It is our duty if we enjoy our sport to call and tell them why we love our sport and tell them to stand up against other Reps who want to take our rights away.

I have question for you fox hunters..............have any of you heard of the Bill= S374, that the NC politicians have been trying to pass, it is the Written Permission Bill. How many of you fox hunters tried to help defeat this bill. This bill seems to be more important to all us hunters than just this bill you want everyone to help you fox hunters with. I mean how are you fox hunters going to hunt in the wild, if you have to have written permission on all the land a fox dog covers. My sons and I will help every way we can to help keep our rights to hunt our dogs, but it's a two way street, and we all need to help in the fight, not just when it affects an individual hunting group.
My son was at the meeting this past week in Raleigh for the hearing of this bill, that you have brought up on here, which was open to the public, but he said he was "shocked" that there was not alot of fox hunters there. Go figure.

For clarification, I AM NOT A FOX HUNTER, never been fox hunting, never plan to. I am a coon hunter, a member of Tri- county Coon Club in Vale, NC. We as a club joined NC Sport Dog Association in order to join the fight to protect our rights as hunters/houndsman. I am on the two way street you are speaking of, wake up. I called and spoke my peace on the written permission bill you spoke of as well. I live four hours from Raleigh and can't take off work and go to every meeting when one of these things come up. Thats why when I get wind of them I call my Rep. and speak my mind. I posted this as information to each of us as to a bill thats being proposed. Call or don't, this one thing may not affect us. But its just one step closer to tying our hands. Thanks to all, and I hope I made this clear as mud.

After going back and reading all the post, I must say, I should have made myself clear as to who I was directing my comment too. I should have stated I was speaking to "Phantom", you know the one who must be scared to say who he is.
Sorry, Ricky.......... my fault for not be more direct.

What we need, is a hired organization to represent the hound hunter on such issues. I'm talking about paid dues from each of us that owns hunting dogs. I know the NC Sporting dog is helping, but do they have the resources to talk to the politicians or fight our fights. I'm talking about paying dues to a high powered group, that has the money to fight for us working people, that can't take off for everyone of these fast moving meeting.

Terry Adams

For one thing it is none of your **** business who I am.
Another thing as well as hunt foxes I also hunt coons, deer and coyotes plus any other animal that can be hunted with a dog.
No I did not go to the meeting.I do not live in NC anymore. But that did not stop me from still calling and telling them what I think about any bill that affects any hunter no matter his/her game of choice to hunt.
Do you do the same?

10-4 I got ya, I am not up on politics as much as I would like to be, but each day I learn something new. Our club joined NC Sport Dog the club membership was $500 and it covers every member. Yes they are down there throughout the week and very current and have political ties/pull. I will have to say that they came to our club on meeting night, Which is on the first Monday of every month at 7 p.m. It is a four hour drive for them and they came and ate and told us everything and anything we wanted to know and then drove back. This was all on their own dime. We did not join that night, we talked about it as a club after they left and waited a month then joined. In my own opinion they are making a difference. Well I am about to sign off this post, I appreciate all that called and expressed an interest in the matter. Thanks again and Happy Hunting to everyone.
