I had a female that had coonhound paralysis, took between two and three months for her to recover.I built a large box, around 4 footsquare and a good three feet deep, filled it with good soft prairie hay. This was to keep her from getting sores as the only thing she could move was her head. This was in the winter time and she would only go to the bathroom at one certain spot in the backyard so every day i had to carry her outside to her spot.I was lucky and was within a 3 hour drive to the Iowa State vet school and they diagnosed her.Dont know your vet but i have never heard of coonhound syndrome, maybe the same thing but if they havnt done the tests the other gentleman mentioned and arent furnishing some form of treatment i would surely find another vet and get a second opinion.
