Growth in dogs throat?

First of all I AM going to take her to the vet Tomorrow..I have a 5yo walker female that was very over weight so a friend of mine has been hunting her to run some weight off. Now that she has lost weight we have noticed she has a huge tumor that runs from the top of her chest to the bottom from her collar line. Like I said she was fat and I hadnt paid attention but now its real noticeable. Its bigger than your fist. I dont know if it was there under the fat and has just started growing rapidly or you can just see it now that she is thin. It is hard not fluid filled or soft. It almost feels like bone.. Has anybody ever had anything like this happen before?

Sunday night when I noticed the knot I gave her 3cc of penicillin and gave her another 3cc yesterday and by the time I got her to the vet this morning it was almost totally gone.. The vet seemed to think it was an infection in the lymph nodes. I left her there and they are going to run more tests and I'll know more when I pick her up this evening..

Well Vet stuck a needle in it and pulled the fluid out and said it was a pocket of infection under the muscle where she had gotten eat up by another dog. No outside wounds were visible but they put her on antibiotics said what was left of the infection should be healed by the weekend.. I'm glad it was something minor. Thanks for all the input..

Good old abscess. Mine got ate up by a bear in the same spot last year, looked just like that. She still has a silver dollar size lump under the skin of scar tissue where the tooth actually punctured. But other than that never tell. Mine get a lot of small abscesses on there legs and face from coon bites. I just keep the holes open and drain them myself with a Pen G shot every other day until gone.
