Downloading Garmin Map Card???

A WHILE BACK THERE WAS A THREAD ABOUT WHERE TO GO TO DOWNLOAD MAPS TO YOUR OWN SD CARD, AND SOME DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO GO ABOUT IT. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP WITH THIS. <v>

you can get the map by state or region at gpsfiledepot.com
You can make your own but it will takes a long, long time. The people at gpsfiledepot.com put them up for free all you have to do is download it.
Here is how to get them to your gps.

I BELIEVE THAT IS THE INFO I'M LOOKING FOR. I PROBABLLY MISWORDED IT AS I'M KINDA TECHNICALLY CHALLENGED WITH HOW ALL THESE GADGETS WORK.LOL. I GUESS YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE A BLANK CARD IN YOUR GARMIN AND DOWNLOAD FROM THE SITE YOU POSTED TO THE GARMIN. THANKS FOR THE INFO. <v>

You can either put the blank microsd card in your gps then hook the gps up to the computer or you can get a microsd reader/writer that hooks up to the computer without using the gps. Then when all is transfered, you put the card into the gps. It takes alot longer for the map to download to the card when you go through the gps.

I have a 4 GB card for south of the border and have Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Pen. all on it with more room to spare.

my 4 gig card held about half the US. Takes a long time to load onto the card for that big of an area. But it depends on what map you get.
