Amazing Romeo

Amazing Romeo made his hog hunting debut last night. Went hunting with some local hog hunters and took romeo for the ride. romeo treed 1 coon and bayed 2 hog. He is always been used on squirrel and coon. The second hog he struck and drove the track. These dogs are Amazing, and can do just about anything. Got him a cut vest today and going again tonight. Tree a few coon and bay a hog or two.

To each their own, I break my dogs off hogs when I am around them just like I would a deer. I think too much of my dogs to have their guts laid out on the ground.

You're dang right Tim. A dog's career can get shortened in a hurry if you don't break him off hogs.

im not trying to break him off of hogs. he never messed with a hog till i took him. we catching some of a neighbors small pigs thats all. just got home and the other dogs were on a hog and romeo got treed. hogs not even on his mind really. i was just saying how multi tasking these dogs are. i think alot of my dogs, but i also like to see what they can do. romeo also picks up birds on a dove field. got him a cut vest today just in case, but think i wasted the money lol. romeo is just one of those dogs that has tons of brains. not looking to make him a hog dog by no means. but it is fun to watch him do several things well.

I feel the same way, I hate for my dogs to get on a hog and we have way too many of them here. A huge problem, IMO.

I have insurance on mine to cover all of that, plus hogs. I suspect I hunt my dogs as much as the next guy. But I am not going looking to get them killed. Some dogs you can't run down at the trade lot and pick up for a few hundred bucks.

His dog he feeds it, I agree that he can do what he pleases and I am well aware of other dangers to our dogs. But, turning them in on hogs is pushing your luck. Just because you don't want a hog to pull the guts out of a $1,500.00 dog don't make you a internet hunter.

the whole thing was showing multi purpose. truth is....... every since that night he won't look at a hog lol. but this is one dog that can do many things. he is a good squirrel dog and even better coon dog. he can pick up birds on a dove field, cut goats out among many things. i have much time and money invested in all of my dogs. i don't look for dogs on traders hill. romeo is a friend above all things. he had some problems last year and i can't breed him any longer. i really wish i could. i have another male who throws good pups and looking for that litter any day. i have had guys buy my pups for hog and call at 10 or 11 months saying all they do is tree lol. thats what i breed for but romeo just shows they can indeed do many things.
