alright guys ive got my 2 dogs over the hill behind my house. the pup is in a chain link 10x10 and the old dog is tied out just below her. when it rains the ground turns to mud and my dogs stay muddy. any suggestions on how to keep the mud to a minimum. by the way this is the only place i can put em.

I'm not a big fan of concrete, but I would also like to do something different.
I've been thinking about making a big deck out of lumber and putting my kennel on top of that .
I think some of the advantages would be it being off the ground and letting cool air circulate from under it.
You would just have to wash it down and clorox it every month or so to sanitize it.

my hounds are in above ground wood floored with roof kennels i will never have it any other way.They are almost self cleaning and I think the dogs are in better shape.If you give me your email address i can send pics but don,t know how to put on here I have around 165 in my pens each.they are 4 by 10.If you decide not to build the deck in your post go above where the dogs are at and dig a trench around them to allow water to channel past dogs

I have gravel in my kennels, it works great and keeps their feet tough and tight too.

On the wooden above groung kennels what do you with the stuff that falls through it to the ground,wouldnt it attract flies?

I built a raised kennel last fall, works great.Rip 6 inch deck boards in half,it will be about 2 and 3/4" wide.go with a 3/4" gap in between.Solid waste will remain on top.I ran my lumber 5" higher than the floor for my fenced walls,and a hoe works perfect with a great big industrial size metal dust pan.the only thing I should have done was dig out 4" and threw in pebbles underneath

I have a kennel and also 4 dog houses with stake and chain tie outs, I get the L rock works really well easy on there feet and they will lay on it in nice weather. I get it from my local crusher, it is L rock rounded rock people use it for landscape rock,, It cost me 17.00 dollars a ton and a ton will go along way.i use it in my kennel and tie out.
