How old is to old?

How old is to old to breed a female for the first time recken? I got one coming 9..Should have bred before now but liked hunting her to much and didnt wanna chance something happening to her..Still dont wanna chance it but just been wondering if she could produce me a pup..I dont care if its just one but dont risk her health!

What does Dr Orr say? He will know better than anyone. She should cross well on a good Wipeout dog like Zeb Again, Clayton or Threat.

i breed my ol female at the ripe age of 9 1/2 or 10 she had a 6 pup litter, she raised em,weined em,and i hunted her for another 2 yrs or so before she passed on,so at least i still got a pup off her,it prolly didn't do her any good, but i had too get a pup outa her, like you i sure didn't want too,but now i'm glad i did, good luck,it's kind of a tough decision too make

Shes bleeding today...What to do what to do...I also gave her ovaban when she was 2yr old for a hunt..Thats what I think messed her heat cycle up for all this time..That also has me worried some! Jason I know lipper was trailing blood but this would be a one time shot here..I'd have to study on it.

my female had a litter (9 of them) at 8 1/2 yrs old, had one litter before, when she was about 2... so 6 years earlier, she had no problems but i was on the phone with my vet about every 10 mins cuz i didnt know what was going on, my 1st litter that i was actually worried about.

Chris, have I ever told you YOU'RE A GENIUS?!

I would try it Michael, if you don't it will always be "What would she have produced?"

If you breed her to Brummy I'll take 2.

Just do it Ghorley, whats the worst that could happen, she dont catch? She's prob got a better chance of getting hit on the highway than losing her to pregnancy. .... Who you gonna breed her to if you do?

She'd prolly be better off than a dog that had raised a bunch of pups at that age. Having pups is hard on them. Since she has been being hunted a lot and not been bred a lot, she is prolly in pretty good shape for her age.

Get your some "coon finding" ability, not "tree grabbing" ability buddy.

WE HAVE BRED SEVERAL 9 YEAR OLD FEMALES. ALL HAVE HAD PUPS AND DONE FINE WITH THEM. AS LONG AS SHE IS HEALTHY WHEN THEY ARE BORN, SHE SHOULD BE FINE. ALSO, IF YOU CAN GET THE STUD OWNER TO DO IT, TRY TO GET THEM TO BREED MORE THAN ONCE. IF POSSIBLE. IT JUST BETTERS YOUR ODDS AT GETTING A DECENT LITTER AND CATCHING HER AT ALL.

A few months ago, we bred an 11 year old male to a 9 year old female. We bred them twice and she had 6 pups born alive and one still born undeveloped pup. She raised 5 of the pups. The females owner did have to give the female and pups more attention than he had to with her previous litters.
