the ticking is comeing from the

"coondog blood" from

"back in the day"

before people started slapping paper on them
so they could hunt them in nitehunts.

David i have to tell you congratulations. The Black and Tan guys are loosing a member. Once this fine looking little hound starts doing it, you'll never go back. By the way, if you get to where you don't want it, call me first. I have a hunch i know what blood is flowing in those veins.

Most people don't care for the ticked up walkers, so I guess it could be considered an undesirable trait. Ticks don't bother me at all though.

I'm a die in the wool english man and hope you don't mind my input on your post. I believe the ticks on those walker hounds is a trait that is being passed from many, many years ago, when the walker hounds were still a member of the English breed.

I sure could be wrong, but that would be my guess as to where it is coming from. Probably prior to 1946 or 1947 as I believe that is when they started to seperate.

I have seen a lot of Ticked up Clover Dogs, I have a pup right now out of Wild Card with a little bit of Ticking on him.

Personally, it doesn't bother me at all. I've seen some really good looking ticked up walker dogs.

Pretty hounds! I don't mind one with ticks myself, especially in a hunting dog. A lot of "show folks" frown on ticked and open spotted Walkers, however, which I think is a shame.

Here is my ticked-up AND open spotted boy. He's off a Bad Habit male and a Skuna River Fred female. I personally think he's beautiful, but of course that's through a mama's eyes!
