http://www.ncwildlife.org/NewsRelea...g_with_Dogs.htm

I am glad to see the NC Wildlife Resources Commission come out with a statement re-affirming their support of hunting with dogs.

Wildlife Commission Reaffirms its Support for Hunting with Dogs

RALEIGH, N.C. (Jan. 13, 2011) – The Commissioners of the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission unanimously adopted a resolution Thursday reaffirming their longstanding support for hunting with the use of dogs.

“We support the use of dogs in hunting in North Carolina where such hunting is consistent with the sound conservation of our state’s treasured wildlife resources and not contrary to the protection of the private property rights of its citizens,” said Gordon Myers, executive director of the Commission. “Hunting with dogs is part of a centuries old tradition in North Carolina and the members of the Wildlife Resources Commission determined that it was important to clarify their position regarding those practices.”

The partnership of hunters and hunting dogs, commissioners affirmed, has long been a central thread of North Carolina hunting culture, and thousands of hunters – young and old – use dogs to pursue grouse and quail, waterfowl and woodcock, deer and bear, rabbits and squirrels, and foxes and bobcats, and raccoons and opossums.

“The members of the Wildlife Resources Commission look forward to continuing its successful record of working with multiple partners to provide opportunities for hunters to use dogs on state and private lands where feasible and appropriate,” said Commission Chairman Steve Windham.

I hope everybody doesnt miss the importance of the support that the NC Wildlife Resources Commission has extended to hunting with dogs.
This is some of the results that organized groups can achieve. They include the NCCHA(thanks to all your work Chris Herring), NC Sporting Dog Association, NCRAOA, and others that I cant remember right now. Thanks to their work and the work and phone calls and meeting participation of all the members of these associations we have gained written support of the group with statewide powers dealing with wildlife laws.
This is good news amongst all the news we hear about that is against hounds and hunting from the long list of AR groups and their legislative efforts.

Yes

If ya walk the talk, instead of talkabout, things get done,in every county.I thank every one that has ever picked up a phone and let their opinion known in the ears of who it counted.

Thanks,NCWRC,NOW,lets get started on those closed roads,so we can get those hounds you support, withen a couple hundred yards of the creek,river,stream,ect.Oops!lol.

No Wick your right! Is good of them to say.And yes Chris IS ONE OF THE FIRST to speak up for the sport.AND had many good ideas for the protection of our hounds and sport.

Thanks to NCRAOA,AND other associations that support hunting period! Its to bad we dont have the time and money our counterparts have to gain more support, but this is pertty large, just hope they walk the talk!

First off Thanks for the kind words, there are many of us in this State that work when we can to try and make a difference. I have a "spy" who wishes to remain un-named who keeps me up to date on alot of stuff. I also follow closely to Lisa and the AHA and Joe and Henri McClees with NC Sporting Dog's respective websites/e-mails...Lastly I have learned alot watching David Gardin and David McKee and trying to follow their example.

I was happy to read this statement, I plan to make a photocopy, and put it with my hunting maps in my truck. That way I will have it if I ever encounter a NCWRC officer who seems to have an attitude. I can say that so far in Franklin county our officer Phil Lucas is doing a fine job - however each officer is different...

I am somewhat worried that the statement released by the NCWRC is a knee-jerk response by the criticism they have gotten for their lack of action in regards to deer dogging in Richmond County and the recent "Geogia Plan" talks in the Big Game committee. I have shown my support for the deer hunters by joining them in their calls more more transparancy in the Big Game Commission, it's just not right to add dog hunting to the agenda on the "Other" slot so that it is not previously published. Having said all that I am glad they made the statement, knee jerk reaction or not, I just hope they are not just words but words that will see action.

Lastly, as a game lands hunter I have been in contact regarding road closures and met with much resistance...but they seem fine to open Falls Lake Gates for Dove Season???? They did however notify me that they will provide handicapped hunters with a gate key if they have proof od disability from a DR...I will continue to pursue this point when I am able to speak with reps at the NCWRC

Well Said Chris...

There are so many groups that have joined forces in NC to make sure that our rights are protected....

If you are not a member of or supporting one of these groups PLEASE do.

WE ALL HAVE TO WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!
