Den ?

Ok I thought that you could not mess with a den at all. My judge last night was beating on the Den with a 3 foot long branch about as thick as my wrist. Is that ok? Or was I right in telling him he cant do that?

It didnt have anything to do with my points.(my dog was at a different tree) unless he would of be scratched.

If you are talking about a den in the ground if you can see a coon in the den you plus the strike points and delete the tree. So yes he had a little incentive to try and get the coon to look out the den. Though in my experience I have never been able to get one to look out that wasnt looking anyway.

If you are talking about a den tree then he has the same ten minutes to try and find a coon as a regular tree, if a coon is seen inside the den it is plussed both ways same as a coon on the outside.

Now if he was using the stick to dig dirt out or move leaves or something then that is potentially against the rules although I don't have a rule book in front of me to find the rule at the moment.

Yes, you can beat on the trunk of the tree IF.....you can squall the tree. Shaking vines, banging on the tree trunk, etc, are all under the same rule as squalling.
You cannot molest a den. That means that while you can bang on the trunk, you can't run a stick up inside. That is my understanding of UKC's position on this.

For scoring it or for not being able to dig and move debris??

The not moving debris I would think would come under the same rule that says you cant cut limbs out of a tree or cut small trees to see another tree.

Like I said earlier I don't have a rulebook at home so I'm not sure on the specific rule.
