I wouldent do anything but make sure she has clean bedding while she is prolapsing.

It looks pretty nasty, but it usually gets better on its own. The ones I have delt with quit doing it with age without any special treatment.

Most vets will want to spay her, but then again most vets want to spay everything.

IMO it is genetic, odds are she could be successfully bred someday, but she could very well pass this to some of her pups.

Had a female that did the same thing on her first heat cycle. Vet said to push back in 2-3 times a day. As she heat cyclke went on it got better. 2nd heat cycle she swelled really big and prolapsed about halfway. Then all was ok in about 2-3 days. Waiting for the next one to see how that goes.

Had a female years ago that had this problem. After her heat cycle that prolapse did not receed and we ended up having surgery. Was never able to be bred becasue of scarring tissue... this is a genetic disease and unfortunately this hounds needs to be taken out of breeding stock.

whether culled or spayed.

I would recommend spaying her. It most likely will keep happening. Like said earlier it is genetic. She should NOT be bred! Would cause major problems if she could carry a litter.

That's what I thought, genetic. She will be taken out of the pool. - Lance

Had one do this her first heat cycle. Went down at the last part of her cycle. Happened only at her first cycle. Non her offspring had this happen. I would wait until at least her second heat before
doing anything. She turned out to be a top notch dog and mom.
