Breeding quesiton

Okay get your laughs out now before beginning to read this. I was interested in possibly breeding one of our females and I never have seen her come into heat. I hear their is swelling and obviously some bleeding but I must be missing something. I take them out daily to clean their kennels and feed them so I would think I would see it. Does anybody have an approximate pattern off of birth day that she will come in? ( like twice a year or other) Also how much swelling and blood are we talking? Is it possible to miss? Any answers appreciated, expect some light jabs as well.

1st heat is any where from [6] months to [18] months ---when you check her she will show some blood --some swell up a lot and some do very little swelling ---some will come in every [6] months ---once a year --you know all lady are different

I have a female here that has come in heat twice in her life and she will be 6 this year. I had a female one time that came into heat every two years just like clock work. Like Doug said they are all different. Most females will come in every 6 months

Put the neighbors bird dog in the pen with here and I guarentee she will be in heat over night. Just kidding. When you don't want it to happen they are in heat every 6mo. When you are waiting for to happen it seems like forever.
I have some females I have to pen next one of my agressive males because she doesn't show. He lets me know when the time is right.
Phil

I appreciate everyone's input. It doesnt sound quite as obvious to see as I was afraid it was and I was just missing it. Will take all suggestions in when she gets close or when Im looking in the future.
