Are seeing any with rub marks on them yet. Went out for a bit last night and treed 4 males but didnt see any with rub marks yet. What part of the state are you hunting in.

In north iowa they are prime--prime as can be, real long gaurd hairs, that sparkel in the sun light but that will change in a week or two they will have fussy looking necks

im not an expert on rutting coons but last few time we have been out have been red hot tracks going over a mile all big boar coon and one was a mean devil

WEST CENTRAL INDIANA
TREED 11 in the last two nights NO SIGN OF THE RUT HERE !!!!!
Coons have the same gestation period as a dog 63 days there wont be any coons born in west central indiana in late feb or early march, they will be born early to mid april which puts the rut mid to late febuary !! there maybe some bores in the pre rut stage but the sows are still active and the actual rut is a ways off. Mother nature will see to that !Happy Hunting 2011

BUCK AND I TREED 6 THE NIGHT BEFORE LAST AND ALL BOARS. THE COON WILL RUB A BARE SPOT USUALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NECK FROM GOING IN AND OUT DENS. THE BIGGEST ONE THE OTHER NIGHT HAD A RUB, FIRST OF THE SEASON. <v>

made a couple dumps tonight shot one male coon and it had a rub first one of the year for us. Jay I dont know it all but ive always herd the males come in before the females. Still learning

They all just primed up last month. I don't expect stinking females and rubbed coons till next month. I sure am looking forward to some real good races then though.

All has to do with the quality of the fur, rubbed thin spots, faded spots (piss burned} all from fighting. denning together and getting fleas and such in the den, starting of the rut and other things
