Score This!!!!!

First it was in a pleasure hunt, but am not sure how I would score it if it was a hunt.

Dog trees and when we get there, he is treed on a very small tree growing up the side steel pipe(VERTICAL like a water trough) about 40 inch in diamiter and about 5 foot high. I see that small tree and am mad. When I walked up to the tank, it has 2 dead coon floating in water. The water about 18 inches down from the top. They fell in trying to get water and couldnt get out.

HOW WOULD YOU SCORE THAT???

Before you ask how long were they dead? They were still floating so there for still putting off smell.

I put logs in it so if a coon falls in they can climb out.

How you gonna minus it? What you going to do when one of those handlers say hey them coons just fell into that bucket plus and let go on. I would just delete everything if I thought they had been dead for a while but some would circle it. Then again who says some would not plus the track and circle the tree?

this happened to me, hunt was over ,when we went to catch dogs they were split , hunts over 2 dog cast. my dog was on a tree with a dead coon in it, judge was the other handler told me that would have been plus if she would have been treed 1 min earlier, coon was seen, makes sense it would still smell like a coon?

Folks no coon can be plussed UNLESS IT'S ALIVE. I assure you. If you could pluss dead coon hunters would be hanging dead coon all over the place.

You cant score on dead coon.

It depends on the situation, one would have to see it, but i would probably treat it the same as the dogs baying a trapped coon.

Ok here is my idea

I would take into consideration of how long do you think they have been in there.

One thing is did the dogs trail into the pipe, if so they couldn't have been in there to long.

Also I'm thinking that the smell of the water should knock out any possibility of winding them and making a tree.

I say circle it or delete it. Most cast members are gonna plus it though.

Also a coon hung up in a tree and this situation are totally different things, and 9 out of 10 times a coon aint gonna hang for 24 hoors. Something is gonna knock it out of the tree, wind, buzzard, Hawk, Etc.

Does it really say anywhere in the rules that the coon must be alive? I'm betting this is an extremely rare occurrence anyways. I have never seen a dead coon in a tree unless I shot it.

My guess is that ukc. will say minus both ways, but in fairness it would depend if the dog took a track into that tree (minus) or if the dog just fell treed as if it were a layup, in which case the dog located on coon scent and did exactly wht he should.

Let me ask this. Say a cast of dogs are declared treed in a tile that goes under the road. Cast get there and you can see right through the tile but there is no coon. What do you do with there points? Minus....... The fact that there are dead coon in the water tower makes no difference.

FIRST IT WOULD HAVE TO VOTED ON BUT ITS A VERY RARE SITUATION AND DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERYDAY. BUT I'M GONNA SAY I'D CIRCLE IT AND MOVE ON. I DON'T THINK IT DESERVES TO BE DELETED BECAUSE THE DOG DONE ITS JOB WITHOUT INTERFERENCE AND DEFINETLY NOT MINUSED CAUSE RACOON IS WHAT YOUR HUNTING AND THE DOG SHOWED YOU WHERE TWO OF THEM ARE. PLUS I THINK SOME GUYS ARE MINUS HAPPY AS LONG AS ITS YOU THEIR MINUSING BUT IF ITS THEM THEY WANT IT CIRCLED.

The pipe was vertical and had been made into like a water trough. It was about 5 foot tall and about 40 inches round. The water was down 18 inches and the coon get out. They swam until they died.

This was in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the woods. There was an old oil well and old building that had fallen in. I would say this pipe has been killing coons for decades. This well probably hasnt been used since the 40's or 50's. We put a log in the water so any more coons could climb out.

This happened several years ago on a cast I was hunting in.

One fellers dog goes over the hill and just falls treed.

Cast get's there and dead coon is hanging in the first fork of the tree.

Not being 100% sure the fair way to score this, I ask the cast if we can put a question on it.

Cast agrees this is the right thing to do.

We go on hunting and have a pretty good hunt.

Get back to the club house and MOH says to pluss it up.

Dog get's a first place win and becomes a Nite Champion thanks to a hagining carcass.

Ask yourself this.... If you were to look into a hole that you could see through and there was no coon what would you do? I would hope you would be honest and minus it. The coon being in the tower dead is irelevant.

It isnt a tower, it would be like a water trough for cows. The dog was treeing up the side of it, and it had 2 dead coons in it.

I for sure am not minusing it. I promise you that.
