Lumens vs. Lux
Just shedding some light on a misunderstood subject. In short, Lumens are a measure of light at the source, while Lux is a measure of light falling on the surface of an object. The sun produces the same lumen output every day but depending upon whether its cloudy or clear, mid day or early morning, how much lux can be measured at ground level. The international standard for lux is measured at one meter from the source on one meter sguared. So lumen output means little to a coonhunter unless it gets transfered to what he or she is looking at. Lux means little if you don't know what distance or on how large of an area its being metered on. So if your totally confused on how to use this to purchase a light, don't. Gather information on the light you are prospecting to buy, about how it compares to other lights that you are familiar with or can get references on.
Hope this helps
