Stephen, you have a nice plan taking momma along and all but speaking from experience it will not work. I tried it and all I ended up with was a mad wife and a tired me. LOL My boy has been going with me since he was a year old and my wife went about the first 5 five times and she stayed in the truck 1st time with Cale and he cried the whole time I was gone and she did not like sitting alone one bit and we were parked on the back of the farm away from and out of sight of any passing traffic. Then she decided it was better to walk to tree with me which worked out good for me cause she carried the gun and I carried the son....until the yotes cut loose a howling and she hasnt been back and its very tough carrying a kid, gun, coon, and leading 2 dogs out of the woods. Better learn to improvise, like a sling is a must, a hunting vest with carrying pouch is wonderful and teaching my dogs to lead without being on a lead all works great. By the time he was 3 he was scooting through the timber like a seasoned veteran and carrying the coon out at 4 yrs old and could tell me when the dogs were on a hot track or just "piddling around, lets get'em back up and go somewheres else" by 5. My boy is about to be 13 and still goes with me from time to time when he is not at a friends, having a friend over, going to a ball game, or taking his lil woman to the movies. Its not like it used to be when he wanted to go every night and Ive come home a many a night completely exhausted and down in the back from carrying it all but I wouldnt change a thing and would do it all over again tonight if I could.
Love seeing all the pix especially when there are young ones involved. Even though I dont know any of these young people, every time I see them it brings back all the great times I have enjoyed in the woods with my son and looking forward to any time in the future I will spend with him also. Keep em coming, its what keeps the sport alive and kicking.
