Another Garmin Issue!!

For the second time in a year my Garmin has failed to load or recognize the data on the map card. The first time was this summer when after several months of reading the NE map card fine the Garmin wouldn't load. We checked the card on the computer and it showed it to be there but we decided to de;lete and relaod the data. When the map card was reinstalled the Garmin loaded it and it worked fine. Now my SE card won't load. I talked with Bruce Conkey today and we tried several different things that have worked for others but they didn't help. I even tried three different map cards from another friend that work fine in his garmin. Has anyone else had this issue? Does anyone have any LEGITIMATE suggestions. I am at the point with this Garmin crap where I am not sure all the hassles are work it! At this point I guess it is either send it in for repair or throw it in the trash!!
By the way all updates have been done regularly...

Can either one of you read? Do ya see the part where it says "Legitimate" suggestions? If I am not gonna keep it I wil smash it. I dont believe in passing on junk dogs and that goes for hunting equipment also. A cull is a cull! I ama glad youhave had good luck with yours bud BUT for everyone who is happy with theirs there is another person who isn't. I have use mine 5-7 nights a week all over this country for a year and a half and have never come on here and complained. I am just at the point where I am tired of the issues and actually was seeking a solution to the issue I was having rather some some unsolicited smart guy comments.

Maybe

there is something gone wrong internally where the Garmin is not reading the card. I would imagine that you will have to send it in. The first time was probably the starting of the glitch and now it went south. (Pardon the pun, lol)

If you go back to the factory default settings and it doesn't work then I would say something is wrong internally.

Is this a solicitation to handle dogs?

People need to say this more often.. No matter what someone posts some A$$ is going to comment and be a d!ck.. Usually its the same people and they hide behind there username. People that have their real name as their username very rarely make smarta$$ comments

I agree 100% Paul. Clay was merely needing help here and this is the kind of response he gets. I too have had my share of Garmin problems. I guess when you post on an open forum, anything is bound to be said. He will know I was joking with him on my post!

Its all good! I over reacted I suppose. As far as coming on here and complaining believe me I havent. I have had many, issues with my garmin and have never openly complained about it til now. I agree in most cases it is still better then a beep beep. However for those of you who don't kknow I handle for other people and sometimes they are very valuable dogs. The whole idea of me having a Garmin is to see roads...in order to prevent danger as much as possible. Without this ability the Garmin is not nearly as valiable an asset!

Clay, are you sure the problem isn`t the micro SD card not the Garmin. Even those little cards can screw up. Try another card before you send it back, the cards are cheaper than the postage to mail it.

Ya Pete we tried three cards that work in other garmins and none of them would load in mine. Right now I have Bruce looking at it because he said that this would be a first. If his solutions don't work then I guess I will have to pay the swap out fee for garmin to replace it even though I think it would have to be an electronic failure. I will wait and see what the next few days bring.

Clay, I would look at the contacts where the SD card mounts.

Are they clean? Is there trash in there?

And I know you prolly already checked, but does your metal door work properly and push it in far enough? If that doesn't push down hard enough the cards won't make contact, so if that is sprung you may try to place a piece of paper in there for a spacer.

If it's the contact just not working you will have to send it in. It's like any other electrical contact, if it is corroded etc it won't work.

Thanks Rip. Ya I tried cleaning the contacts in the Garmin and on the cards last night. It also appears that the door or locking down fine. I dont know what is happening. I think it is gonna turn out be be an internal electronic failure.
The only reason that I was so upset is because I just went through some major surgery and recooperation period and havent been in the woods since AO. For someone who is use too hunting 5-7nights a week it has been tough. Now I have the opportunity to get back inthe woods and this happens!
I AM NOT OFFENDED BY ANYONES POST! I was really hoping there would be an obvious quick fix short of me being without one and having to send it in and paying $169 to get another one. This puts me out of service again because I will not risk a dogs life without a tracker.

Hope you get back on your feet and hunting hard again bro. I know how you feel I had to take a long break from hunting myself because of a back injury.
