Started playing chase the coon tail at when I got him at 8 weeks old,then I got a hide a played chase with it about a hour a day,next I started dragging the hide around the yard,then I started dragging the hide while leaving him tied at the wood line until he got use to finding it,then I sat a cage coon outside his reach for 2 days,then I turned a total of 6 coons out to him,just letting him watch them run off(never shot one down to him or let him tree it)just let him watch them run off.So that's where we at in his training,so since I got GoldDust back I've been keeping him hunted up and letting this be Blasta's(puppy)time in the woods also.Well he usually stays 20 to 30yrds around me,till GoldDust trees then we get close enough for his liking he takes off towards Golddust tree.He never gets on the tree cause when he first went into one of his trees GoldDust stepped on him while "jacking"the tree and since then he just barks at GD for his excitment,but trees drags everytime belly up.
Ok wed night I took them out around 11pm and I sent GD on and the pup was just doing his normal thing being"stupid"I never heard GD open but once I got to the top of the hill I could hear him down on the low side treed well he was bout 175 yrds from us and as we got closer Ol Blaster started stopping and listening and took off like always towards GD(I always say to myself lol he's going to be the greatest me too dog ever!!!)Anyway I get into GD tree(saw the eyes before I got there) and Blaster no where in sight so I tie off GD and start looking around,I wasn't nervous cause he couldn't have went to far so I didn't call him(I was about to at first)I just said lets see what he doing and then he went to barking down on the creek bed about 30 yrds away!!!I went towards him and when I got there he met me off the tree flipping and twisting around"acting stupid"but went back to treeing on the tree.I shined up and he had him!!!Ok I was like what do I do now lol so I decided to let GD loose and let him tree cause I only had one lead,so I tied Blasta back and shot the coon out,went and made sure he was about gone and turn Blasta loose on him it took a sec for him to find him but he did and started playing wit it.I got down on my knee and petted the hair off him,then I started just tossing it around play wit him for 10 min or so(poor Gd LOL),I then went to GD tree and petted him up nice and headed out,got back and woke everybody up and told them to get the camera.
Now before you start in on me let me say this:He's nowhere near finish,no he's not promised to be great by doing this,no im not bragging,3 months from now he may run deer,possum,bears etc.BUT on 8-27-2010 he treed a raccoon and I am proud of him!!and he's not the best puppy by far(BARKS ALL THE TIME)!!!GD treed his 1st when he was 4 months and 3 days old and he's still the GO TO guy on the yard and he never barks lol!So it is what it is for now....Im excited AGAIN.

Nah I can't say I do know him,but the pups is local bred the sire is off of Rat Attack and Flints Terrible Tiny and the dam is off of Dohoney's Dizzy and ? female,never looked at the papers there still at the breeders but he's all grand except his mama i know that,but that don't mean a hill of beans lol.

You better not let Yard Dog know you hunt with me, he might try to take him back since he thinks the dogs I hunt are mean even though he hasn't been in the woods with me, I guess thats just hear say from Dane, anyway good luck with your pup!!!

Hey took baby out sat night she took off with sting and bella and doc they all got split she was alone I could not find hers but still happy with her this cross is nice she is out rat male and rat female.

Darkman,
Is that pup out of Yard Dog's Rat male. Because i Have a female pup around 5 months old out of Rat and i would take 4 more just like her. Been Going with the dogs since she was 3 and a half months old. go crazy or a live or Dead coon. she will stay treed on a hide for close to 10 minutes
