The "Shoot the breeze thread"

I hope im not violating the rules, but this place is kinda quiet, or seems so to me. How many lions, tigers, and bears have you all treed this year? Any Hog bayups? What kinda gun you carry? How do you hunt you dogs, off a leash, off a strike, free cast?

EVERONE AND ANYTHING IS WELCOME.

Weve treed 7 bears all season, which I only get to hunt on the weekends. 2 of the bears were keepers, the other 5 we left. Had 1 deer race . Also had 1 hog taken. It wasnt bayed up, just almost ran over a fella after the dogs jumped it. Weighed about 140-150 I guess.

Ive always carried a rifle until this year. I figured I done more carrying than shooting, so Im getting something lighter. Ended up with a Thompson Center Encore pistol in 460 S&W. The 460 is more than I like, but Ive been shooting the 454 casulls out of it and its pretty comfortable... and its light as well. I put a strap on it so Its carryed like a rifle.

If I feel like walking I like hunting off a leash. My dogs arent the most honest hounds out there, so I try to watch about free casting. I had a strike dog that was pretty good, but shed strike ANYTHING, so I got shed of her.
