Bugling Bull elk

Years ago I made a run at wildlife photography and outdoor writing, and did quit a bit of both and made some money doing it. Matter fact I supplemented my income so I could afford to hunt, but not with photography but with writing articles on weekends for different magazines. By the time I found a couple editors that had interest or would use my photos I had lost interest in doing the work and had moved on to running hounds. And that is how the worm turns they say........
I can remember chasing the wapiti through the mountains with a bow, a rifle, and probably a camera more than the others. This old bull was close enough I could nearly feel his hot breath as he blew his challenge to other males across the meadow. He stood under one tree while I stood next to another only thirty or forty yards away. I'd spied a low hanging branch to climb a tree if he came my way. A person hopes that never happens but it did only moments after I snapped this shot, and by the time the bull reached me I was safely up the tree. What memories come to mind of a lifetime spent in the outdoors............
keep'em treed but don't forget to chase those dreams,
ike
