Training question

I'm havin' a hard time gettin' a yr old pup to use her mouth in the woods. She's usually the first to the tree by 50 yds but she just won't open her mouth anywhere, on the track or tree. I've tried cage coons. She'll tree them but won't say a word. She'll raise cain at it in the cage. But once I turn it loose she shuts up. She hates a coon and will fight one. I've drug coons that I've shot out. I've tried coaxing her into treein', pettin' her up for 15 minutes at a time. I'm at wits end and need some help. Any suggestions. I've been huntin' and training pujps for 20 years and have never seen one do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

just a thought

As far as getting her to open on tree you might try using another dog to make her jealous. whenever they get to the tree and the other dog is barking treed tie her back and give her no attention and really praise the other dog.Just act like she's not even there until she starts opening. When or if she opens praise her untill she stops and then go back to the treeing dog untill she figures out what you want her to do. I've done this with good results. jealousy can be a handy tool. Just an idea, good luck.

Thanks boys. That sounds good and I'll try it tonight and post how it works out. Yall are right too, I've done that in the past with other pups and it seemed to work, but I'll be durned if I had thought about that this time!
