Cherokee National Forest Meetings
A group called the Cherokee Forest Landscape Restoration Initiative is working with the U.S. Forest Service to "identify the health and condition of the forest and determine where more work is needed to restore the forest's habitats".
I have no idea what there plans really are and their website is not very informative (www.communityplan.net/cherokee). But they do seem to have the attention of the U.S. Forest Service and have scheduled meetings throughout the Cherokee National Forest area. Their mailing was accompanied by a letter from the Forest Supervisor (H. Thomas Speaks, Jr.).
The following meetings are open to the public:
Oct. 12 - Erwin, TN - 7 PM - Senior Center
Oct. 14 - Del Rio, TN - 7 PM - Library
Oct. 21 - Shady Valley Elementary (Hwy 133) - 7 PM
I'm sure it will be to the benefit of all TN hound hunters to attend these meetings and voice their opinion concerning the future of the Cherokee National Forest.
