Concerning theivery at events.

How do we keep from having a KY state Hunt incident happening again.

Shoudl we limit who can be on the grounds of the event... If you aint got a dog entered then you cant come on the premises. Allow up to 2 spectators as the rules allow. Must be a registered vendor. Must have pre entered the event to get on gorunds.

My days rodeoing.. you had to call on monday or tuesday to enter the weekends event... When you showed up you paid the entry fee and got your draw. If you didnt show they fined you. Might be a program to adopt.

Anyway would love to hear some ideas...

Im sure the barred person are not allowed on the premises, am I correct.

I have seen barred people at events- I think they just can't enter or compete. My guess would be that the thieves don't enter anyhow. Anybody that enters tends to have a healthy respect for what everyone else goes through to have a decent hound. My guess is the thieves are more likely to be dog trader types that spend the day on the grounds and disappear about the time the rest of us are drawing out.

or leave when everyone is leaving after taking the scorecard in, or when we're out (when show dogs go missing)

Read the top of the Barred and Notified page of Bloodlines.
My interpritation of this is that a barred person isn't allowed on the grounds.
I know a few that have been barred and don't think any of them would resort to stealing.

The UKC themselves cannot prevent barred individuals from being on the grounds ONLY PARTICIPATING. This has recentyt been discussed, just do some searching. However the club CAN control who is or isn't allowed on the grounds. As stated above I don't believe "barred" people are the source of the stealing. The whole idea of having to control who is on the grounds is discusting. There a several major events throughout the year without any problems. Perhaps it is personal in this case. How about locking dogs in a dogbox or securing them some way to keep honest people honest.
