Ot- What kind of choke

Ive heard different opinions from different people. Lookin to get some more opinions. What kind of choke do you use for #1 buckshot. Would a full overchoke it or be best. Or is a modified the best?

what are you using the gun on, you should pattern test the gun with different tubes and loads, I have a mossberg 835 with a super full turkey choke and a remmington 870 super mag with a super full choke, both guns pattern best with 3 1/2 inch #4 buck, with the rem having the tightest, both guns fail terribley waith 00 buck, the pattern is all over, best to test your gun

Yea jason will do lol. Ive killed enough birds and deer with that gun to feed the starvin people of the world lol. Time to let sombody else kill somthin with it. Went and bought me a new, well new to me shotgun last weekend. I never patterned a shotgun before. What am I suppose to be lookin for. Just step off and shoot it with different chokes at different distances and see what holding the tightest pattern? Just wanna make sure im good for when that biggun come bouncin out next weekend.

Think I like this one, or the look and the feel so far. To be honest I havent even shot it yet except three bird shots I rattled off right quick just to make sure it was throwin shell ok. You sure its the shotgun and not the operator Jason lol. Just messin with ya. Tryin to get it dialed in with buckshot for saturday when deer season comes in. Hopefully gonna try to shoot one in front of the dogs!

Remington makes a special choke for deer slugs
anything less than open bore is useless for me

You should also try a variety of the same load from other ammo companies when you pattern test. You may find one shoots tighter than another. I know some folks just like one brand of ammo over the others but I was always told to shoot a range of brands to see what one behaves best with the shotgun you are toting. We did some of that back in the day when we were into shooting geese and we wanted to see what the magnum steel shot loads would do.

Regular number 1's normally shoot better in a full choke, I've never seen magnum #1's pattern well out of any choke. I prefer Double 00's with an improved cylinder choke myself.
