Tracking

We hunt in the mountains and our garmin range varies all the time. We have bought all the antennas: long range, roof mount and telescopic because we are addicted to the abilities the Garmin offers. We have only lost our dogs once but we hiked to where the Garmin last had their signal we were able to pick them up again. To the Garmins credit the dogs were down in a ravine that was pretty tight.

We have also run beep beep collars but the information regarding tracking isn't as detailed as the Garmin. I really like having the ability to cut the dogs off when they are heading for a road and possible traffic.

Lately we have been using both a Garmin and a quick track collar for back up when we run the dogs. Anyone else doing the same?

I ran a Garmin with a wildlife collar for about the first two months I had my garmin which was with a DC-20 collar. After I got a DC-30 I quit using the wildlife and havent used them in over two years.

There is no need here. There is a road around every mile section. I do run elec. on all but my b&t with the Garmin though. Just in case I need to call them in from a place they can't hear me or they decide to sin.
