Best 22ammo?

Is it just my old eyes or are 22 shells less effective than they used to be? seems like its takin me more shots to get em on the ground and im not missin. About half the time when pullin a hide a bullet goes plunk on the floor, layin just under the hide amd not even distorted much. What ammo works best?

I like the cheap federal shells. They make a very nice bullet.

I use CCI Minimags. They seem to have somewhat softer hulls and I think that is a good thing. Accurate and knock em out for me. Don't have any problems with them hanging up.

I reccommend looking for these 22 shells called "quick-shot" My dad and I use them when they hit they fragment into three peices, they're awesome.

They are not the cheapest .22 shells, but try CCI SGB. The head of the shell is flat nosed solid 40 grain lead that moves at the same velocity of CCI MiniMags.

I use Remingiton brass jacked hollow points. One well placed shot to the head brings em out every time.

Remington Vipers. 36 grain flat tip (not hollow) Packs a wallop you can hear.
I just ordered some Barnes .224 (22) Varmint Grenades. Not cheap. But you need to have some fun once in a while.

I like any subsonic ammo. I just don't like the super loud crack of a regular shell. Remington sub-sonics were ok but they blow a big hole on the back side. I did get some 29 grain gold tip remington shorts that had the same balistics as the sub-sonics, but I have yet to try them.

If you are selling the furs CCI Stingers are not a good choice. They are a hollow point. I actually took the entire skull cap off a raccoon with Subsonic hollow points. They aren't even close to the same fps as the Stingers.

love cci stingers, one shot, one kill, fragments in the skull, I hate anything fedral produces, bought a whole brick last year of fedral spitfires, junk takes 2 or 3 shots to the head to bring them down, hard lead and dirty powder

Where are you finding them? I've looked and looked and can't seem to find any. Cheaper than dirt had them but they were always out of stock and I don't think they even list them anymore.

When I'm hunting I use either stingers or velocitors both by CCI as I belive in a quick clean kill.

CCI Stingers work good. But the most accurate shell I have found is the CCI Green Tag shells they are for target shooting. They seem to hold a tighter pattern than any other 22 bullet I have found. They are not cheap but they are well worth the money in my opinion.
