I use a 5 gallon bucket w/ lid on it.Cut a 1 1/2 or 2 inch hole in bucket near the bottom, then place a piece of pvc pipe in hole and seal it.coon will reach inside and get food through the pipe.Place the feeder off the ground so mice and such don't rob ya.I use cheap dog food in mine.

Same bucket design and I mix cheap dog food with corn and powdered grape cool-aid. Coons beat a path to the bucket.

All you need to do is dig a hole, bury a 5 gallon bucket up to the rim, fill it three fourths full of shell corn then fill to top with water.This is easier and cheaper than dogfeed. I have three or four coon on each bucket every night. The squirrels and deer will not bother it, the only problem is if you have bear, but bear will eat dogfeed or cakes just as quick anyway you are going to have a busted feeder.

I have used feeders to start pups, and show a stud dog for the past ten years...a five gallon bucket is good to start with...but will only last 3 nights in my area... I have switched to 20/30 gal. metal containers. I make the lid, and use the PVC/ caulking as mentioned above. However we have wild hogs and I must have the bottom of the feeder at least 4 ft. off the ground. This served as a double advantage in that it is head high for a pup, and he get a nose full when checking the tree. I use Kroger dog feed, the cheapest I have found...my coon do NOT like me to change brands, believe it or not...good luck, used properly these can be a valuable training tool...Fred
