Coon Hunting & Your Spouse!

As recently as last Saturday night, I was out hunting again with a good friend until well after the sun came up. Yesterday, I finally came clean and over supper openly confessed my coon hunting addiction to my wife and asked her to keep loving me the way I am. She doesn’t hunt, and said she’s aware of my longstanding issue and its okay for me to have this issue in my life.

We’ve been through a lot in our years of marriage. We raised a son with special needs that is now 23, still dependent and hates us for it and everything that goes wrong in his life, which is pretty much everything these days. Balancing work, family, faith, good works and the most important person in your world, your spouse, is a tough challenge when you’re passion is coon hunting, one of the oddest pastimes in the world.

Today, I celebrate 25 years of marriage to a very wonderful woman. Maybe I did a few things right by her and God willing I hope I get to do many more. At the very least, I truly am a blessed man.

"HAPPY ANNIVERSARY"

Takes a real man to say what you have in front of a bunch of grizzled coonhunters!

Sounds like your a very fortunate individual!

I could say pretty much the same about my Mainsqueeze. We are on year 27 but the things a coonhunters wife has'ta put up with ya know? Takes a special bond,a whole lota understanding & some give & take.

I have apolagized myself for my addiction many times!

Again,"HAPPY ANNIVERSARY"! Hope you have a great day!

Lucky man

My wife of 15 yrs goes hunting and fishing with me. She will lead a dog, help with obedience training and tend to them when I may be out of town. Go fishing she has her own pole, tackle box, baits her own hook and takes off her own fish. She is a 3 rd grade school teacher and we have 3 children ages 13 and 10. OHH I forgot to mention they got me a lifetime hunting/fishing license for fathers day. We are blessed men to have a spouse that understands us and the crazy things we do.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

WELL SAID. TELL THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE CONGRATS FROM OTHER COON HUNTERS.

I HAVE BEEN MARRIED FOR EIGHTEEN YEARS, SOME MORNING AFTERS WERE TOUGH AND OTHERS WERE FINE. SOMETIMES IT WOULD DEPEND ON MY POOR ATTITUDE WHEN I WOULD BE TIRED IN THE AM. BUT FOR THE MOST PART SHE IS OK WITH IT. EVEN THE MONEY FOR EQUIP AND PUPS. I LOVE HER AND HOPE WE HAVE MANY MORE.

Congrats on your anniversary! I can admit it takes a mighty fine woman to married to a coonhunter.....with that said......my wife is praying for cooler weather and quick to let me know she can't wait til I start hunting again.

Happy anniversary!

I too have a non-hunting wife that has had nothing but support and understanding for a coon huntin' husband.

Been married for 8 years now. I must be the lucky one of the bunch. I married a coonhunters daughter! So when ever we can find a willing babysitter, we hit the woods TOGETHER!! I love my wife dearly, even when she has to stay home with our 2 and 5 yr old daughters!

We will be celebrating 8 years in September....

I would not have my love for hounds and do what I do if it were not for my husband.

We hunt together all the time and spend alot of great quality time as we travel around the country showing our hounds. Can not imagine life with out him, our children or our hounds. It is all just apart of our life and I love it!!!

I am truly blessed with my family and my hounds.

If my wife was born into coon hunting and her daddy had hounds all his life.Well i dont believe she would still be around going on 12yrs this oct. She trusts me and i trust her,If Iam gone all night she knows how things go some nights,Yes she goes also when she dont have to work at night.it dont have anything to do with hunting its how much a man and woman cares about each other.

My coonhunting addiction is all thanks to my husband. Never coon hunted in my life prior to meeting him. Now I love it. I love coonhunting, deer hunting, fishing, muddin, etc.

I am lucky to have a girlfriend that hunts every night with me. I would not be able to date anyone that did not want to go simply because I spend a good bit of time in the woods and work 50 hours a week and there just isn't time for everything. Hunting is my relaxation time and I can't relax if someone is waiting on me to get home whether they say they don't mind me being out there or not.

If she gets tired of it, I never hear about it so I don't worry about it. IF the garmin says the dog is further than she wants to walk, She has a pillow in the x-tra cab, puts the seat down and takes a snooze till I get back..... I always liked hunting alone, but having an extra set of hands sure comes in handy especially if you are hide hunting, trying to take photos, or hunt two dogs together,

Happy anniversary! I count myself lucky as well that my fiance' supports my coonhunting and hound showing addictions. We hunt many other types of game together, but he just doesn't enjoy coon hunting as much as I do. However, MOST of the time he'll go when asked or at least doesn't complain about me hunting with other men!
