Grch.grntch Russ Treein Blue Luke

DID ANYONE ON HERE EVER HUNT WITH, DRAW OUT WITH , HAVE A DOG OUT OF OR KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS BLUE DOG. JUST KINDA TRYING TO STIR SOME INTREST AS YOU SEE SPANKY TALKED ABOUT ALL THE TIME BUT NEVER MUCH TALK ABOUT WHERE HE CAME FROM. I'VE HAD PEOPLE SAY TO ME DIFFERENT TIMES THAT THEY THOUGHT HE WAS FROM UP AT DAVES AND JUST ENDED UP BACK THERE(SPANKY THAT IS). DOES ANY ONE KNOW EARL LOCKHARD FROM GEORGIA THAT USED TO HUNT SPANKY FOR BART NATION? THOSE 2 WERE A TEAM AND THEY WON WHAT THEY WON HONEST. SPANKY AND LUKE WERE ALOT ALIKE COMP.DOGS DELUXE. HOW ABOUT JERRY TURBEVILLE IN S.C. HE HAD THE MUSICMAN DOG OUT OFA MALE THAT WAS OUT OF LUKE AND OXY. HUNTED WITH HIM ONE NIGHT IN THE SC. SWAMPS AND HE HADN'T BEEN HUNTED FOR 2 YEARS. HE BUSTED IN THERE 3/4 OF A MILE AND GOT TREED LIKE HE WAS GETTING HUNTED ON A REGULAR BASIS. BIG HOUND MOUTHED COON DOG. I OWNED A FEMALE OUT OF THE LUKE X OXY CROSS, TURNED DOWN 3500.00 FOR HER AT 15 MONTHS OLD, SHE WAS KILLED ON THE ROAD. HAD ANOTHER FEMALE OUT OF LUKE AND A CASEY MO. RINGWOOD FEMALE, SHE WAS SOLD TO JUNIOR KING AND SHE WON QUEEN OF THE NATIONAL HUNT 2 MONTHS LATER. JUST SCRATCHING THE SURFACE HERE, ANY INFO WOULD BE INTERESTING AS POPULAR AS THE SPANKY BLOOD IS THIS IS ONE WAY TO FIND OUT MORE. THANKS, PERRY

hey perry,i hunted with luke about 10 times at different hunts.ive hunted with spanky 4 different times. luke in my opinion was a better dog all around.and a lot prettier to look at.luke had no nonsense to him.i had one pup out of luke that turned in to a dandy and got killed by a snowmobile.he made nt ch at 18 months old.when john crossman had spanky which you know how long ago that was.he beat me once i beat him once.twice i pleasure hunted with him.there styles were alot different.

Perryman, didn't Luke have a metal pin in his hip? If I remember right, Luke didn't travel that great in the dog box either. But I could be wrong. Have you talke to the "Coz"man lately?

LUKE AND SPANKY

JDA, I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE SAYING , WHAT I MENT WAS THEY HAD ALOT OF THE SAME TOOLS THEY JUST USED THEM ALITTLE DIFFERENT. ALSO SPANKY REALLY CAME INTO HIS OWN THAT YEAR THAT BART GOT HIM. THAT EARL LOCKHARD HUNTED HIM TO DEATH. I WENT ON SOME CASTS WITH HIM WHEN HE WAS 4 OR SO. YOU COULD TELL HE HAD BEEN IN SOME NITE HUNTS AND HAD ADAPTED QUITE WELL. HE GOT REAL SNEAKY AND WAS A LAYUP DOG. HE WAS HOT AND COLD WHEN COZ HAD HIM, HE RAN DEER A LITTLE AND JOHN WAS TREMENDOUSLY HARD ON A DOG FOR THAT, HE HAD LUKE ALOT AT A YOUNGER AGE AND HE WAS A LITTLE SCREWY AT TIMES AROUND DEER OR CERTAIN SITUATIONS
DUE TO COZ SEVERE BREAKING METHODS. NO EXCUSES JUST WHAT I GOT TO SEE FIRST HAND. ONE NITE RUSS AND I WENT UP TO JOHNS TO HUNT, TURNED LOOSE5 DOGS, LUKE TOAD SPANKY
AND MY 2 FEMALES SADIE OUT OF LUKE AND A DAUGHTER OF BRUISER AND HER DAUGHTER, FACE OUT OF TOAD. THEY STRUCK TOOK IT IN A GOOD PIECE AND TREED. GOT IN THERE AND CAME TO THE FACE FEMALE FIRST WITH A COON, 25 YARDS ANDLUKE ,TOAD SADIE ONONE WITH THE COON , 30 YARDS IN FROM THERE WAS SPANKY WITH A COON. WE HUNTED FACE AND SPANKY THE REST OF THE NITE MAKING 7 TREES WITH THEM TOGETHER ON 1. THEY WERE14 MONTHS OLD. BOTH DEVELOPED A DEER PROBLEM AND GOT WORKED ON FOR IT AND BOTH WERE COONDOGS THAT ANYONE THAT EVER FOLLOWED A HOUND WOULD BE PROUD TO OWN. LUKE WAS HIT BY A CAR AT 16 MONTHS OLD AND HAD A PLATE AND PINS IN HIS HIP. HE RECOVERED PRETTY WELL AND COULD STILL RUN AHEAD IN A CORN FIELD RACE MOST OF THE TIME. HIS SPECIALTY WAS FALLING OUT OF RACES AND HAVING A COON THEN PULL HIM OFF TO SEND HIM BACK IN AND ALOT OF TIMES SCORE ANOTHER COON
WHILE THE PACK IS STILL RUNNING IN THE CORN. CAN STILL REMEMBER RUSS AND WES BLUE PULLING INTO ARTHUR WIS COON CLUB AND PULLING OUT LUKE AND WES BLUES COON CREEK BLUE RANGER. RANGER WAS A HALF BROTHER TO LUKE AND WAS ALOT THE SAME. OLD RANGER NOT RANGER 2(ROWDY)
THIS WAS AN AWESOME LOOKING PAIR OF DOGS. I KNEW THAT I WANTED SOME OF THAT,BETWEEN WHAT I HAD HEARD AND WHAT I WAS SEEING. I WAS 19 YEARS OLD THEN I'M NOW 44 AND STILL LOVE THEM. NONE OF THIS IS HEAR SAY OR SECOND HAND INFO,
I GOT TO LIVE IT, THE PART ABOUT LUKE OTHER THAN ALL HE TAUGHT ME WAS THE NUMBER OF YOUNG ABOVE AVERAGE HOUNDS HE PRODUCED. I STARTED AND SOLD A PILE OF THEM.
IT IS FUN TO RECALL SOME OF THESE THINGS AND GET THEM ON HERE AND THEN HEAR WHAT OTHERS REMEMBER OF THESE DOGS
THANKS, PERRY

TREEIN BLUES OF THE PAST

KATE -AWESOME LOOKING ALL BLUE FEMALE, BUILT LIKE A TRUCK, TOAD GOT ALOT OF HIS TRAITS FROM HER. HARD TREE DOG THAT WAS NOTORIOUS FOR TREEING COONS THAT OTHER DOGS DIDN'T KNOW WERE THERE. HARD INTENSE TREE DOG.

CORY- SHE WASN'T FLASHY BUT COULD TREE A PILE OF COON IN WHAT WAS THEN A 3 HOUR HUNT. BACK THEN RUNNIN UP A SCORE WAS ONE THING KEEPIN IT AND STAYIN OUT OF TROUBLE WAS ANOTHER. I LIKED THE 3 HOUR HUNTS AS FAR AS TESTING THE TRUE ABILITIES OF A HOUND. CORY WAS A SIT DOWN TYPE TREE DOG AND WOULD DIG AT THE BASE OF THE TREE SOME NEVER DIGGING A HOLE ANY BIGGER THAN A T-CUP. SHE COULD LAY A COON UP OR RUN A BAD TRACK. SHE WAS OUT OF ADAMETZ BRUISER AND A DAUGHTER OF MICH REBEL.

SHAWN - SHE WAS A HALF SISTER TO LUKE OUT OF DAVID AND RICK TOMTERS GRNTCH TWINLAKES SHANE. 40 LB. DOG THAT HAD AN UNREAL NOSE AND WAS A POWERFUL TREEDOG. DIDN'T CARE ABOUT CHEWING ON A COON. BUT WOULD TREE 1 AFTER ANOTHER ALL NITE. VERY GOOD PERSONALITY.

JED WAS A BROTHER TO MY SADIE FEMALE OUT OF LUKE AND CORY
CORY AND JED WERE OWNED BY DEANKAHLER OF MILTON WIS. HE HIDE HUNTED THEM ALOT.AND RUSS AND COZ PUT CORY IN SOME HUNTS AND DEAN DID SOME TO AND BETWEEN THEM FINISHED HER TO A NT CH AND THEY SHOWED JED HE WAS AN AWESOME LOOKER AND A COONDOG TO. HE WAS NEVER PUT IN THE HUNTS AS RUSS GOT BUSY WITH TOAD AND OTHERS, THERE WERE 2 OTHER MALES IN THAT LITTER THAT ALSO MADE GOOD HOUNDS AND WERE HUNTED BY DEANS BROTHER IN LAW TED ZINK. THE WHOLE LITTER MADE NICE HOUNDS

LUMBER- GOOD LOOKING RUGGED HOUND THAT DIDN'T GET THE CREDIT HE DESERVED. THE DOG DEVELOPED A SKIN DISEASE THAT THE VETS IN THE AREA COULDN'T FIGURE OUT, TODD ACKERMAN TOOK HIM TO THE UNIVERSITY VET AND GOT HIM TREATED AND THEN THE DOG REALLY SHINED, BUT SOME WHAT OF AN OPINION HAD BEEN FORMED ABOUT HIM BY THEN. HE WAS TOUGH, A LAYUP DOG DELUXE AND VERY SMART. ALSO HE HAD A BEAUTIFUL MOUTH. AFTER HIS HEALTH GOT STRAIGHTENED OUT HE WAS FINISHED OUT TO A DUAL GRAND. I HUNTED HIM IN ONE OF THE FIRST HUNTS AFTER HE WAS WELL AND PUT A NTCH WIN ON HIM. IT REMINDED ME OF HUNTIN LUKE.

WEASEL-ANOTHER ONE OUT OF TOAD AND SADIE, FULL LITTERMATE TO FACE. HE WAS PUT UP KINDA LIKE MY OPPY DOG.
HE WAS A LAYUP DOG AND COULD GET BY HIMSLF AND WIN HUNTS HE DIED NEEDING 1 WIN TO BE DUAL GRAND. HE WON THE RED WHITE AND BLUE HUNT IN WIS. AS DID TOAD I THINK WEASEL WON THE SHOW ALSO. COZ HUNTED HIM IN THE HUNT
YOU ASKED ABOUT COZ, HAVEN'T SEEN HIM IN YEARS, IHAD SOLD FACE TO HIM WHEN HE SOLD SPANKY. THE NEXT YEAR I BOUGHT HER BACK. SAW HIM A COUPLE TIMES AFTER THAT, HE HASN'T HUNTED SINCE HE SOLD FACE. PERRY

Hey Perry, about Lumber

Perry just reading your post here and well you remember in the years past all the road trips I took Todd on and all the weekend hunts we took up with you all. Well having that old hammer, jet bred dog with the mouth that you loved and the all-blue bitch that hunted every step with Mrs. Dottie, Weezel, Lumber, Smoke, Bo, and whatever else we were running. It was the BEST coonhunting time of my life!!!! But you only have 1/2 of the Lumber story right. I went to visit Russ with Todd and we picked up Kite our new pup and I asked Russ why he didn't hunt, show or finish Lumber. He had been breeding him and the pups were real nice. We went to check him out and I believe at that time he was tied at your house Perry. Russ said that he tought Lumber had been bit out hunting and contracted something, he had brought him to several vets and they thought it was just a staff infection at first, but antibotics were'nt working and it wasn't mange. Then it began to spread over his whole body and it looked like the hide had fallen off from the bottom part of his muzzel all the way across the the lower part of his tail. And puss pockets began to form. Russ, Todd and I talked for a bit and I said I had a really good vet by Waterloo that treated me pretty well and he loved hounds. So Russ let Todd and I carry Lumber home and I took him to my vet where he did a skin scrapping and sent it off to the University to comfirm it was a contracted skin disease and not genetic form of demodicosis. For 3 weeks, every 3 days in a row I had to hand dip on treatment in a huge tub with hot water in my backyard and wash him oatmeal shampoo. He lived in my basement and garage, and he remained at my house until we got the last two Nite CH wins on him. And I then bred GR NITE CH CH Marlo Wild Blue Brandi Dew to him and got and outstanding litter of pups.
I LOVED hunting with Lumber, he could run a track, wind and lay-up and even run in front of the trucks headlights in the ditches until he winded and treed a coon. Anyway, I put a lot of time and care in Lumber and I think Todd was the only person who knew that.

I think the times I hunted with you, Todd, Russ and even the round heads was some of the best coon hunting of my life. It gave me the courage and knowledge to become the person I am today. I never would have worked for UKC, PKC, AKC, cooner or any of the magazines and registerys if I hadn't had the experience and knowlege I gained form my many visits to Russ' house. I loved hearing the stories about Spanky and Luke as pups and about the Junk Yard dogs. Also about our crazy Jerry Winn days HA HA HA HA. anyway I hope your JYD pups give you a glimpse of the old hounds we had. Please keep in touch and let us know the progress on these pups.

Thank you for putting these hounds on the board and talk to you soon. Marlo Arp

Marlo, your old Lexy female was out of that cross betweeen Lumber and Brandi right? I was alot younger at the time, but when you saw a 4 dr Ford (I think it was orange or was it red) with 30ft antenna's come to a hunt and see you guys come out of the truck kind of takes me back. It was you guys, Wes w/ either Ranger or Ranger II, Lee Walker w/ Missy, throw in Jacobson with whatever he was hunting. Know that was a crew! I had to dig up some old BBOA bluebooks. When Oregon had the Zone 3? hunt back in I don't remember, but you handled Luke for Russ and won King of the hunt right? Another question for you, is the Etringer's still hunting dogs?

Spanky's son the way he hunts........

Maybe some of the oldtimers can tell me where he gets his traits.

when he's turned loose solo,he takes tracks as he get to them,
opens with a nice bawl,(nice mouth), drifts track locates with two
med bawls,on third long bawl you can call him treed in the middle.

Now with company......that's a whole different story. He will be
second or third strike, sometimes last , depends on how wide he went left or right from the strike, because he will be trying to get off alone . if he turns back to other dogs and strikes in,,,,,,,dont
look for him to say much more,( no ways the mouth as when he's
solo). My buddies have asked,,,,,,,is Pete still in there ????,I say yeah, he's about 15 or 20 yds out front, lol,,,,with company his
locate bawls and tree bawl shortens up. He trees up on the wood
with a med. count chop, I can call him when I get to the tree ,he will come to me and tie him back without going all the way to the
tree. do not bark in box, only barks around kennel when he hear
the tailgate drop......Oh yeah he even sits and tree during hot months,,,, i don't take him much then,,,,7rs. old. God Bless

I hunted with Spanky, South Eastern Walker days, 19something, Spanky run deer all night. Jerry said "listen to ol' Dave Dean run that deer" He was the fastest deer runnin Blue dog I have ever seen to this day. Ruby {my dog} treed a coon, and Jerry found it for me, can't say a bad word about Jerry.

Toad was a better hound than Spanky from what I seen, I never got the opportunity to hunt with Luke.

Perry...going through some old pics and found one when we tried to breed face to boy. Everyone looked alot younger back then. Hell I even still had some hair. LOL

I HUNTED ALOT WITH SPANKY WHEN HE WAS AT JERRY'S HOUSE. HE COULD TREE COON THAT ALOT OF DOGS DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WAS UP. I THOUGHT THAT HE WAS ALOT BETTER IN THICK COON. I NEVER HAD THE PLEASURE OF HUNTING WITH ANY OF THE OTHER DOGS MENTIONED HERE. I AM SURE THAT THEY WERE JUST AS GOOD AND MAYBE BETTER THAN SPANKY. SO MY HAT IS OFF TO RUSS DOWNING, AND DON SANDBERG. I THINK THAT THEIR DOGS HAD A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE BLUETICK BREED.

Better have your facts straight before ya post anything on here hey??!! Mark you are correct, Charlie was are judge but I don't remember anyone else, Another dog in the cast was River Bend Rufus - who had just come off the Winter Classic win, and a dog called Gold Creek Mundo 3. I can Honestly say Ruby was not running the deer or deers. Spanky did end up treed down along a river with a coon, Rufus ended up treed on a slick, I don't think the Mundo dog ever did get treeed off that deer. Ruby scored on 2 coon that night and won the cast, but that guy was right nothing to impressive.

I'm sure Spanky was a nice hound, I have also had alot of hunters tell me Luke was far better tha Toad and Spanky.

MARLO,
SORRY FOR LEAVIN YOU OUT ON TAKIN CARE OF LUMBER, DIDN'T KNOW ALL THE DETAILS, JUST KNOW WHAT TODD TOLD ME ABOUT HIM GETTING TREATED AND HOW MUCH BETTER HE ACTED AFTERWARDS I PUT THE 3RD WIN ON HIM AND HE ACTED AND HUNTED SUPER THAT NIGHT SO PROBABLY HAD MY WIRES CROSSED ON WHEN HE ACTUALLY GOT BETTER. HE ALWAYS LOOKED WET ON THE LOWER HALF OF HIS BODY, ALL BLUE COLORED HIDE NO WHITE HAIRS TO MAKE THE TICKING. YOU WOULD PUT YOUR HAND UP UNDER HIS FRONT END AND IT WOULD BE STICKY WET WARM FEELING. WE KNEW HE WAS'NT
RIGHT FOR AWHILE AND IT WAS VERY FRUSTRATING TO TAKE HIM TO VETS AND NOTHING WOULD CHANGE. SO NOW THESE YEARS LATER, THANKS MARLO CAUSE THE DOG SURE DESERVED THEBEST
CAUSE HE WAS ONE OF THE BEST. AND TO EVERYONE ON JERRY WINN. SOME THOUGHT HE WAS COOL, CRAZY OR WHATEVER. I WISH HE WOULD HAVE STUCK WITH THE WALKER DOGS CAUSE HE DIDN'T DO THE REPUTATION OF THIS GOOD BLUE DOG ANY JUSTICE. I WAS AROUND ALL THAT FROM HIM ANTAGINISING STEVE FEILDER ABOUT FAKE COON EYES TO BRAGGING IN PUBLIC ABOUT MAKING ENGLISH DOGS AND OTHER BLUE DOGS GRNTS USING SPANKY TO DO SO. HAVING PEOPLE SEND DOGS TO GET BRED TO SPANKY AND BREEDING TO HIS HALF BROTHER THAT I SOLD HIM(WHICH REALLY PISSES ME OFF). TO THE NUMOROUS OTHER ******** THINGS THAT HE PULLED. HIM AND HIS OLE PAL RICK BURNETT WHO IS BARRED FOR LIFE FOR HIS CRAP IN THESE HUNTS SHOWED ME FIRST HAND ONE NIGHT THAT IF YOU AIN'T AFRAID TO CHEAT AND AIN'T AFRAID OF BEING KNOWN AS A CROOK YOU CAN WIN ANYHUNT ANY TIME. DAN BIGGERT OF RED DOG FAME WAS ON THE CAST AND CURTIS ELBURN HAD THEM CROOKS HANDLING HIS DOG(RAIDER) I DON'T BELIEVE CURTIS IS THAT TYPE AND WOULDN'T MAKE THAT MISTAKE AGAIN. BUT ENOUGH OF THAT AS THIS IS ABOUT GOOD BLUE DOGS NOT BAD PEOPLE. POUNDER, I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE SAYING I WENT UP THERE AND HUNTED TO AND BRED FEMALES ETC. COULDN'T HELP WHO WAS IN CONTROL OF THE DOG AT THE TIME. AND BART NATION BOUGHT SPANKY FOR CASH MONEY AND HAD EARL LOCKHARD ON THE DOG AS A HANDLER. THEY WERE WINNING ALOT IN THE BIG HUNTS. I WAS AT THE HUNT THAT BART TOOK SPANKY FROM EARL AND LET JERRY TAKE HIM. WASN'TLONG AND JERRY
SIGNED THE PAPERS OVER TO HIMSELF BECAUSE THEY SAID BART OR JERRY AND RELEIVED BART OF HIS DOG. I GUESS I DID SAY ENOUGH OF THAT DIDN'T I. JAY, JOE ETRINGER HAS 1 DOG THAT IS 8OR9, DON'T THINK ANY OF THE OTHER BROTHERS HAVE A DOG AT ALL ANY MORE. LUKE WAS KING OF HUNT FOR ZONE3 1986, DREW BRUISER, MASH, AND MAD DOG SMOKIE 2 BOTH NITES. LUKE ALSOWON 3 RQE. HUNTS 1 EACH YEAR FOR 3 YEARS IN A ROW IN 3 DIFFERENT STATES. 48 DOGS WAS THE SMALLEST ENTRY OF THE 3. DO THEY STILL CALL THEM REGIONAL QUALIFIYING EVENTS? BLOOMER HILL THANKS FOR COMING ON AND SHARING THESE THINGS ABOUT YOUR DOG, ALOT OF SIMILARITIES THERE
FOR SURE. MY MALE DOG THAT I HAVE NOW HANDLES LIKE YOU ARE SAYING ,CALL HIM BACK FROM THE TREE TO CATCH HIM ETC.
MONTY, HE COULD REALLY SHAG A DEER WHEN HE DECIDED TO COULDN'T HE(spanky) ALL THREE DOGS WERE TOPS IN THEIR OWN RIGHT. I WOULD NOT WANT TO WAGER ON WHO WOULD COME OUT ON TOP IN A SCORE CARD HUNT NIGHT IN AND NITE OUT AS THERE WAS NOT TO BIG OF AN ABILITY DIFERENCE, JUST
DIFFERENT STYLES. I WAS JUST REAL PARTIAL TO LUKE. MARTY, IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT IT HAS BEEN THAT MANY YEARS AGO ALREADY. WAS JUST SHOWING A GUY AT WORK DOG PICS AND THE ONE OF FACE AND BOY AND ANOTHER OF SPANKY AND SADIE LOCKED UP CAUGHT HIS ATTENTION AND HE LOOKED AT ME FUNNY AND ASKED IF I WAS NORMAL. WE KNOW THE ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION DON'T WE. YOU AND I HAVE HAD SOME GOOD HUNTS THROUGH THE YEARS AND SEEN SOMEOF WHAT WE NOW THINK OF AS LEGENDS. I'M NOT ON HERE TO BAD MOUTH OR SPREAD RUMORS. THE THINGS I HAVE SAID ON HERE I KNOW FIRST HAND ,WITH THE EXCEPTION OF MARLO ENLIGHTENING ME ON SOME DETAILS WHICH I APPREICIATE. WE ALSO HAD SOME GOOD HUNTS AND IT IS COOL TO KNOW THAT I GOT TO HUNT WITH ONE OF THE FIRST LADIES OF THE SPORT BEFORE SHE WAS SUCH. I MISS TODD HUNTIN LIKE HE USED TO. WE THINK ALOT ALIKE AND AFTER HE GETS HIS HOG OP UP AND RUNNING WE ARE GOING TO GET AT IT. OLE SOPHIE IS GONE NOW 13 I BELIEVE SHE WAS. BRED HER TO OPPY THIS SPRING NO LUCK. THE SANBERGS HAVE THEIR 2 DUAL GRANDS THAT ARE HEAVY BRED THIS STUFF. MORT IS ALL LUKE SPANKYBOCK IS OUT OF THEIR GRNTJOE DOG AND GRNT RUSS TREEIN BLUE SOPHIE. SHE WAS OUT OF SPANKY AND OXY. I HAVE 4 PUPS OUT OF MORT AND A DAUGHTER OF OPPY NOW THAT ARE LOOKING GOOD. TODD AND JAY AND I WERE TALKING AT MARSHALLS BENEFIT HUNT ABOUT THESE DOGS AND BELIEVE ITS TIME TO GET SOME OF THEM OUT TO AND IN FRONT OF THE PUBLIC CAUSE I BEEN READIN IT ON HERE THAT THE BLUETICK BREED IS LOOKING FOR ANOTHER HERO, AND I SURE WOULD LIKE TO BE IN ON BREEDING THE ONE THEY ARE LOOKING FOR. GOOD FRIENDS TRYING TO BREED A BETTER DOG, SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD RECIEPE TO ME. HEY MARK H. ARE YOU MAD AT ME? YOU COULD SAY HI WHEN YOU COME TO VISIT. (just jivin, put in your 2 cents if you get the time, people listen when you talk)THANKS FOR ALL THE RESPONSE. PERRY

I remember talking to you and Russ years ago about Luke and you guys telling me what a fine hound he was and him doing real good in the world hunt and I beleive something got screwed up with his entry or something. Wish I would have bred a female to Luke sooner , the Jet female that I bred to him didnt get bred and Luke passed away , thats when I got Bo as a pup from Russ, you know he had all those dogs you talked about [ Luke,Spanky,Cory,Shawn,Weasel,Spider,Sadie,Toad and Kate] in his pedigree. Do you know what ever happened to the rest of the pups in that litter? My Denna female out of Spanky is still doing good, hope she hangs in thier so I can get some pups out of her and Oppy. she getting old . And yes shes out of Spanky I was thier to witness the cross. Hope every thing and everyone are doing good talk toyou later. Mitch

MITCH

I WISH ALOT MORE FEMALES WOULD HAVE BEEN BRED TO HIM, HIS PUP TOTAL WAS 197 I BELIEVE. NOT ALOT FOR THE NUMBER OF NT AND GRNTCHS THAT HE THREW. ALSO THE SHOW TYPE DOGS. LUKE IS IN ALOT OF THE DOGS THAT THE HITTSONS OF TEXAS SHOW AND WIN WITH CONSISTANTLY. THEIR WORLD SHOW CHAMPION WAS A GRANDPUP OF HIS. I'M NOT REAL GOOD AT SHOWING A DOG AND I FINISHED OPPY IN 8 SHOWS. HE HAS SOME OF LUKES CHARACTERISTICS ALONG WITH THE OTHER DOGS IN HIS PED THAT HAD THOSE QUALITIES. YOU CAN DEFENITLY HAVE BOTH HUNT AND LOOKS. TONY F. THANKS FOR THE PICTURE OF SPANKY.ALOT OF PEOPLE THOUGHT HE WAS UGLY, IREALLY LIKE THOSE HALF FACED DOGS, AND HE WAS PUT UP NICE TO. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO TRY A FEMALE OUT OF THIS STUFF LET ME KNOW AND I WILL GIVE YOU A FEMALE PUP AS I THINK THIS STUFF WOULD GO GREAT ON YOUR RAT DOG. I'M SHORT ON FEMALES RIGHT NOW BUT HAVE A COUPLE I'M WORKING ON GETTING, MAYBE WE COULD TRY ONE OF THEM ON HIM. WHAT DO YOU THINK? AS FAR AS THE TALK ABOUT J.W. ON HERE, I USUALLY KEEP MY OPINION TO MYSELF, BUT WHEN THESE DOGS ARE INVOLVED I LIKE PEOPLE TO KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT THEM. AND THE ONLY DARK CLOUD EVER TO HANG OVER ANY OF THEM WAS THAT GARBAGE. SPANKY DIDN'T NEED FAKE COON EYES TO WIN AND WHEN GUYS HAVE TO PAY SOMEONE TO TAKE THEIR PAPERS AND A DIFFERENT DOG TO FINISH THEM THEY NEED TO TAKE A SERIOUS LOOK AT WHAT THEY ARE HUNTIN AND WHY WOULD THEY EVER BREED IT IF IT CAN'T EVEN WIN IN THE HUNTS.
THERE ARE 2 MANY POSITIVES ABOUT WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT HERE TO MUDDY IT UP WITH ONE NEGATIVE, SO THRE WILL BE NO MORE TALK OF IT, FACTS ARE FACTS. PERRY
PS. THE YEAR LUKE WAS 5, RUSS AND I WERE PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVE FOR THE WORLD HUNT, CHECKED THE MAIL ON THE WAY OUT AND A LETTER FROM UKC SAYING THAT THE ENTRY WAS ENCLOSED BUT NO CHECK. ANYWAY RUSS ENDED UP GETTING ANOTHER LETTER A WEEK LATER SAYING IT WAS FOUND AND AN APOLOGY. VERY DISAPPOINTING AS HE WAS ON FIRE RIGHT THEN.
NO CONSPIRACY, NO DARK STORY, JUST A MISTAKE. HOWS THE SONG GO? WISH I COULDA BEEN THERE FOR THAT.

spanky

I realy envy all of you that got to hunt with those dogs of russ and the old spank dog. I was around then but just didnt get around because of work. all I know is my dog out of spanky was the one of the best I have ever hunted. He is gone now and the pic. of toney is realy hard to look at as i miss him so much. And as long as he was here I alwasy felt I could compete and always had a coon dog. I dont think I ever missed a dog so much. Thanks for the enfo on the dogs. Toney told me as long as my spanky was alive the old dog was to as they looked and acted so much alike.I dont know how old spanky was in comptition but my spanky seemed to hunt according to the comptition. If it was good he just tightend the knob a little tighter. If the right handler had him I dont know what all he could have won. thanks for the page again and thank for the pic. toney. george
