If I'm taking my boys out with me (ages 9,7, and 5) I like to go out right before dark and stay till they get tired. If they aren't going with me I wait til they're in bed and go out till I get tired. If it's a weekend I sometimes get up early in the morning and hunt till daylight. In my experience you can tree coons at any of these times.

What I've always noticed, especially this time of year or into early fall is that right at dark when the dogs strike they usually don't have to go too far and when they tree it's usually a kitten coon.
