When hunt time is running, spectator cannot follow a cast in a vehicle; they should remain at the parking site. A spectator should understand that his actions reflect on his handler, and that those actions can result in scratchable offenses. If they aren't willing to spectate under those conditions; they should stay at the club house.
I've had some good and bad and even funny happenings with spectators; but that's part of the game. I was at a big state hunt a number of years ago, I drew a young guy, said he needed a ride. I told him he could ride with me, and showed him where my truck was. When I came back there were five young guys standing there and my truck was full of hunting gear. I asked who they were, and they were spectators of the kid I was hauling. I told them I didn't haul spectators, surprising how fast they came up witha PU.
I was at a large breed hunt, people from all over the U.S., drew a guy with two spectators, one a very very pregnant wife. Guy didn't have a ride, I hauled him and his wife, and the other guy went with someone else, and I had the guide too. Anyway , we hunted some rough country, treed some coon. I won the cast, but as the other cast members drug up, I inheirted the rest of the spectators, since I was the only one going back to the club house. I felt so sorry for that poor woman; she was miserable all night long. I wanted to tell her she was married to an idiot, bring her out in her condition.
At a fairly local hunt drew a guy with a big "heavy set" spectator, no light, no waders. Guy wanted to go to every tree, but couldn't cross water, you know the drill. Last turnout, just me and the spectators handler; dogs crossed a big creek. Told the spectator to walk back to the truck and we'd get the dogs. There was a five stran barb wire fence there that went directly to the truck, told him to follow the fence; he couldn't get lost. When we got to the truck he wasn't there, looked all night for the guy, finally found him asleep in a hay barn two miles down the road. Tom
