sick dog ??????

I got a dog that for the last couple days has acted like she could hardly hold her back end up. She will walke around and acts pretty normal other than while shes standing her back legs seem to be so weak theyre just shaking. If she step on a unlevel spot or a small hole her back end will just give out and her tail will hit the ground. Any ideas on what it could be.

Blasto, Lymes Disease, coon fever....get her to the vet. They all need a stringent anibiotic therapy.

Agree with Randy. Quicker you get her to vet and on meds. the better off she will be.

I had one a couple of years ago that when he would get up he just was so weak he couldn't stand for more than a few minutes and then would want to lay back down . He would eat pretty good but just didn't have any energy at all,so I took him to the vet and he said he had Lyme disease I don't know if that's it but , I would get her to the vet asap the vet told me the longer they go without getting treated the harder it is on them.

Many questions leading up to coonhound paralysis? How long has she been weak in the back end? Does she has a hoarse bark, compared to what she ususally has? There are three diseases that are SO similiar to distinguish between: Coonhound Paralysis, Botulism, and Tick Paralysis. Just get her and check her from head to toe for a fat grey tick...that's what causes tick paralysis. Has she gotten out an eatten an kind of dead animal or spoiled food? That's botulism. Has she came in contact with any coons lately that bite her in or on the mouth? Thats where Coonhound Paralysis comes from.......Also she may have low blood sugar......give her some KARO syrup or honey over her dog food...that always helps mine.......

Like Regan H I also had a female get coonhound paralysis back on Feb. 1st, TOTALLY PARALYZED. Came out of it on Feb. 27th. Back to normal. Was one of the hardest going, accurate females I've ever seen....Last month I let her come in contact with a coon again an 4 days later down an died........

Just take her to the vet asap, don't think it may pass, she may get worse off an you could of saved her if you moved sooner.....

I dont have the money right now to take her to the vet. Shes a good dog, needs a little work on the tree but can smoke a track. Shes about a 2 year old black and tan female. Bred up real good for what I no about black dogs. If sombody wants her and can take her to the vet they can come and get her. Im in southeastern NC my number is 910-648-5113

Twice in my life I had dogs with your symptoms. It turnrd out to be the tick itself. The tick would be at the base of the skull, between the shoulders or along the backbone. When the tick was removed they started improving that day. You might also want to check for another tick in that area.

Ive checked her over and over again for ticks. She had two on her a day or two ago and i checked her throughly then and then again yesterday and today. I have had the problems your talkin about a couple times before with a beagle and once with a deer dog I had. Shes doest act like that. Honestly she doesnt act like my other ones did. They couldnt even stand at all. All four legs would be like rubber and just fall out from under them and they would stumble around like they were drunk. She can stand and even walk but like i said if she hits a little unlevel ground or a small hole her back legs just give out from under her.I even put her on a leash and led her around the yard she done fine but a little whole or somthing and she would be down.
