Hello to all Bluetickers
Hope everyone is doing well and all is good ! I thought it might be a good time to try to tell everyone why SBA was formed . Or should I say this ? I will try to tell everyone the conversation I had with Mr. Hank Purvis while driving back home from The Bluetick Reunion in Swainsboro GA. He had called to see if we had survived the high water because man did it rain...We started talking about the hunts and how successful SETWA is and how enjoyable their hunt is along with the Southern English Association...Then we was saying how nice it would be to have a bluetick hunt that could be held in a similar way every year and it wouldnt be such a long drive to get there. Not to compare that our hunt would be as big and great as SETWD'S or Southern English Days but that it would be layed back and fun for all ages being we both have children . Then we talked about how we could make it just something in the NC/ VA area that would be annual and something to look forward to every year with maybe some games for the kids and talked alot about always having a Pig Pickin as its called around here and I think a Hog roast at other places ( same thing ) with some horse shoe throwing and some great fellowship amoung all hunters and showpersons and promoting a better bluetick.....Well we talked some more later and then some more and Hank being a graduate of the North Carolina State University he was alot more educated on the ins and outs of getting the ball rolling on maybe ? forming a bluetick association. Even though Im a Tarheel fan and him a Wolfpack fan we are still great friends ! LOL ! He can spell big words and everything ! LOL!! We both had conversations with officers of both SETWA and Southern English Association and talked to alot of the heart of the bluetick breeds hunters and breeders in our area ....some being for it and some not, some were loyal to their particular bluetick organization and didnt want anymore and some thought the more the merrier! then more steps were taken with some good people getting involved that were able to take the time to get at it and do the ground work to make it happen. We were all wanting the same thing : a good hunt and show with great competition ! and just a good time all around with good food fun and fellowship because at that time all I had was ideas and no time to carry them through as far my part. And before long it was starting to happen! Their has been a handful and I wont name names but you know who you are that has worked their behinds off and still are. Our name : The Southern Bluetick Association ..SBA... basically came from following suit with SETWA and Southern English Association .. plus we all thought it sounded kinda cool !! LOL ! Then after it was formed and we started having meetings, we added what we thought would kinda be a core area including states that was semi close to us mainly in the south eastern part not knowing if anyone further would be interested in joining or not but as time went by we decided anyone was welcome if they were interested . Summing it up : It was a Idea that came up in a conversation on a cell phone between 2 friends while driving home from a coon hunt that with the hard work of some good people has became a reality. It was just a few people wanting a annual hunt and show to promote a better bluetick with good food, fun and fellowship with shorter driving times especially when taking kids along. So this is how and why SBA was formed .....I want to thank/welcome all of our new members and state reps and thank some very hard working Reps and members old and new ......

pretty nice how some simple ideas can become a reality. we will work hard to continue to grow and promote the SBA members and their great hounds. its going to get bigger than most want to even handle, but we will make it buddy.
