Hunt Director (opinion)

Was just wondering if someone from UKC could look at this and give me there opinion, everyone else is welcome to respond also would like to get your opinion to. Why can't a hunt director hunt a dog in the hunt in the local hunt's, I think that if your club picks a hunt director they should still be able to hunt. As of late we have had a few individuals that have brought hounds to hunt not able because we needed a hunt director,I know in the local PKC hunts we have no issues with the director hunting!! Just wanted to get UKC's veiw on this subject and I would like to hear everyone else on this!!!

JCE,

A HD may enter his dog in the event but it would need to be handled by another individual. The reason being is that the HD is required to remain at the clubhouse during the course of the event. They need to be there to accept all returned scorecards and note the times recieved, set up panels shoudl a question come back etc. etc..

Thanks for responding. I'm not a master of hounds or anything but whats the deal about keeping the time when the scorcard is received ( is it the deadline)? Also once again I would like to bring up that in PKC if there is a Question a panel is brought together and the question is voted on, I've seen this a few times with no problem. Also you know as well as me in alot of the local hunts there is no way to get someone to handle there dog's for them there just simply isn't anyone extra. I think this was a Great Progam that UKC came up with but it might be looked at a little more for the large # of small clubs out there. Once again greatly appriciated for reading! The main reason for recording the time the card is received is that individuals on this cast have 30 minutes to question a call on the card as long as prper procedure was followed in the woods.

I think he is meaning you have 30 minutes after the card is turned in to file a complaint. Here's the rule.

"14. COMPLAINTS:

In the event that a situation occurs during a UKC Licensed event involving any question concerning the Rules of United Kennel Club (other than a violation specifically covered by Rule #19) the handler is to go with the Judge and members of that cast to the club to present question. For
MOH format events, the Master of Hounds will make a decision based upon the statement of the case provided by the handler, Judge and other members of the cast. For HD format events, the question goes directly to the panel. No complaints will be considered after a period of thirty
(30) minutes has elapsed from the time that the scorecard has been turned in. If the matter has not been satisfactorily resolved by the decision of the MOH/panel, a Formal Complaint may be made by any owner or handler of a UKC registered dog entered in the UKC Licensed Nite Hunt. If a Formal Complaint is made, request a UKC Formal Complaint form from the MOH/HD and fill it out. It must be turned in with a fee of $20 (MOH format only) to the MOH/HD not later than thirty (30) minutes after the posted time of deadline for return of scorecards."

That's why the MOH or the HD records what time he/she gets your card, if you decide to file a formal complaint etc you got a time limit.

This does NOT mean you have 30 minutes after the card is turned in to question a call. That is to be done at the time the call was made, vote held etc etc. I don't think this is what the poster was meaning, but I can see where one could think that LOL.

I think what he was meaning, and it is correct, is that you have 30 minutes from the time the card is turned in to file a complaint, or to bring your question before the panel/moh, but you must have properly questioned the call in the woods before hand etc.
