Permethrin is the same ingrediant in Bio-spot and K9 Advantix. I simply follow the instructions on the lable for dogs and have not seen a problem. I'd just ad , if you don't feel safe with it , don't use it..... Here's more links with some info on it.

Here's the instructions on the lable for dogs.
Kill Fleas & Ticks On Dogs - dilute 1 Part Concentrate To 99 Parts Water (1.28 Ounces Per Gallon) (0.05%). Using Protective Gloves (mitts), Wet The Animal By Dipping Or Spraying. Reapply Every 30 Days, If Necessary.
do Not Use On Dogs Under 12 Weeks Old. Consult A Veterinarian Before Using This Product On Medicated, Debilitated, Aged, Pregnant Or Nursing Animals. Sensitivities May Occur After Using Any Pesticide Product For Pets. If Signs Of Sensitivity Occur, Bathe Your Pet With Mild Soap And Rinse With Large Amounts Of Water. If Signs Continue, Consult A Veterinarian Immediately.
