Yeah, Nashville is drowning right now. Parts of I-40, I-24, I-65 and most city roads in many areas are closed. They've had over 13.5 inches of rain in 48 hours. Beat the previous record of 6.6 inches set in 1979.

We're pretty soggy ourselves here in Cookeville, NOTHING compared to what they have though. We're lucky. Had to make an emergency run for shavings to try and help the dogs today. Poor things were on top of the dog houses with little rivers running through the pens. It Helped a lot, but still a lot of water out there. At least now they have some ground under their feet instead of just water.

Here's the video footage of the building that was floating down I-24. It traveled nearly 1 mile from the school before crashing into the semi-rig. It was a temporary pod used for classrooms.

They said on the news today the reason it broke apart was the corner caught on the bridge beneath the water. The creek below was 15 foot higher than average! There was a driver in the semi it came to rest beside, he was being rescued (off camera) during this whole thing by police in boats.

Here in my county, there is not hardly a single road that is open except 412 Hwy from Dyersburg to Jackson, and parts of 88 Hwy. The schools are closed until further notice. Parts of the roads are washed out and several bridges are gone. I have lived here pretty much all my life, never seen anything like it. The county is asking for volunteer's to let the flooded out people stay with them. Wish I had some pictures, but my camera floated off .
God Bless everyone who lost everything they had.

I live in Lexington, TN. We have no running water til further notice, no schools either. Beech Lake, in the middle of town, is over the leavy. Many roads under 2 to 3 feet of water.

It's bad

I love just south of Nashville near Franklin Tn and I can tell you that everything you have seen and heard is true.
Nashville is under water and the Cumberland River will not crest tonight until 8 pm!
Water is coming into downtown and the businesses there and up on Briley Parkway where the Opry house is located (also Opry Mills Mall..former site of Opryland) everything is underwater. The Opryland hotel has about 10 ft. of water in it so far and they had to evacuate everyone last night. Franklin TN is totally flooded as the Harpeth River came out of it's banks.
People are still being rescued by boat and I have to say that we are all just STUNNED at what has happened.
I've never seen anything like it and hope I never do again.
Pray for all the folks in Nashville. We are gonna need lots of help!

I surely feel for the people that lost thier homes and possessions. Funny though how different parts of the country differ on how much rain is catastrophic. Here in Florida we got twelve inches and I just have puddles in my pasture. I will have to replant one field of corn though. When I was in Arizona one a a half inches caused massive flooding and several fatalities. The most we have ever had here in one day was twenty two inches during a hurricane and noone lost anything.

I thought it was bad Saturday, but even with no rain at all today the video footage keeps getting worse!
Never seen so much water in my 24 years living here. So very thankful to be up on this mountain! Sure do hope everyone stays safe, and smart, in Nashville until this water is gone. I was amazed to see the number of people walking around the floods on the news today taking pictures and videoing. I'm sure it's something to see, but I sure wish everyone would listen and stay in their homes, away from the rushing water and out of the rescuers way.

OH, and they said today that the majority of those affected by this who have lost their homes or suffered from major damage are NOT in the 100 year flood plain and do not have flood insurance.
So these people have just lost everything, and I can't imagine how they will recover without insurance coverage?

Spent 2 nighjts in Cadiz Ky could not get through Nashville untill today and when we did the sight we saw was unreal. I don't think the flud we has a while back in Ga can hold a candle to what we saw today total destruction. It sure makes you thankful for what you have when you see what others have lost. words canot describe it. God bless the residence of Tennissee. H L Meyer

Just a update... 412 Hwy. from Dyersburg to Jackson is closed. Levee broke. Inspector said they are considering closing 70/79 from Humboldt to Brownsville due to damage's to the bridges and fear the levee through there will break. Hwy. 88 is still closed.

Dad always said if you hang around long enough, you'll see it all. For the first time in my life I actually saw about 10 feet of railroad track floating across a field.

For the love of God folks, PLEASE don't think you can cross a closed road. We spent from 11:00 last night until about 3:00 this morning rescuing three people by boat who thought they could make it across. They recieved on heck of a fine for ignoring a road closed sign, and could have easily lost their lives. The water may only be 2 foot deep, but there could also be a 20 foot hole where the road washed away.

God Bless each and every person during this rare event. No matter what your politics, religion, race, sex or whatever, help your neighbor as much as possible. The least little bit will help.

On a personal note, I would like to thank everyone of you who called and checked on me and my family. It means so much to us that you thought enough of us to check on how we are. I especially want to thank Mr. Elba Neat for the phone call. That was the first time I actually smiled/laughed through this entire ordeal. Thanks Mr. Elba you always have some great stories to tell.

As you can probally guess, any mail I sent out will be delayed. The postal service is not running where I live due to being blocked off from every direction. The last three Sectionals for May 21st, 22nd, and 29th are still in my mailbox. I will take them to the Post Office in a nearby town tomorrow.

Again, God Bless each and everyone.
