I personally do not like poultry by product, and the fiber is to high.

The poultry by product meal as the first ingredient throws up a red flag. This is pretty much feet, feathers, beaks and crap like that. the protein content of these ingredients is real high however its an undegistable protein. It may be a good price but you'll have to feed more of it to get the same results ( if possible) of a quality meat based dog food.

Look for a dog food that has meat as your first ingredient. I feed Hi-standard and I am really happy with it. Great coats, less stools, and the dogs never quit hunting. Go out to Hi-Standarddogfood.com and find a distributor near you.

Chadf hit the nail right on the head. Poultry "by-products" usually translates to lots of undigestable feathers as well as the rest of the mess. Even though the label looks good at 26-18 it is decieving. As stated get a good meat based feed and you will feed less and the dogs will stay up well. I feed a 24-20 and am embarrassed at how little I feed my dogs when they arent working and several are still too fat.

Even cattle feed lists:
Crude protein
Digestible protein
TDN (total digestable nutrients)

I don't know why dog feeds can't (or won't) do it.

everybody loves diamond and unless its "naturals" version that poultry by-products meal is the first ingredients in diamond dogs food. followed by corn. this actually looks better than diamond what is it?

I agree. I don't care for Diamond products unless its the Natural line. As far as this thread goes, I prefer my protien sources to be identified. "Poultry" and "Meat" is too broad for me. Makes me wonder where they picked them up at?
