Weird sound????

Just took the pickle headed Bulldog out and I heard this really weird sound. It was kinda like a hoot, but had a bark or woof to it too. Reminded me of an Owl, but I never heard an Owl woof before, they just hoot, hoot. What the heck to you think it was? The dogs didn't seem concerned about it, none of them are barking and when I tried to shine up through the woods, it stopped. Maybe even kinda like a monkey sound and I KNOW we don't have any monkeys round here!

Could have been a Great Horned Owl. They make a lot of sounds other than hoots. They sure can scare the heck out of you if you don't know what it is. I've seen my hounds take note of it at times. You'd never guess it was an Owl.

We don't have no swamps here, but the hoot Owl thing could be it. Whatever it was it was close to the house and shut up when i tried to shine the ridge and trees.

Yeah, right now is their spring migration season. They wander about looking for fresh meat. They have been known to roam hundreds of miles looking for a mate or cheap pizza. Stay out of honky tonks and low end pizza joints and you should be OK.

Thanks you guys, LOL, but I was really wondering what I heard. I never heard anything like it before at night and trust me, I'm out a lot at night. Maybe it was a hoot Owl with a bad cold or something.
