LOL, in 2006, The Democrats blamed the Bush administration for high gas prices.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/washin...as-prices_x.htm

Democrat controlled congress and a Democrat President for over a year and here we are with rising gas prices once again.

Gas prices are around 75-80 cents higher now than this time last year.

OK, the Dems are in control and have been in control, thought they said said something about changes.....LOL

The sticker on the back of my truck window tells you what I think about that bunch.

I heard him say it with my own ears," I don`t mind gas prices going over
$4.00 a gallon, I just don`t think it should happen so quick". This was a quote from our fearless leader on the campaign trail. If you think the economy sucks now, wait till this happens!

Try to buy a fuel efficient truck. You can't buy one. They had people on the moon driving a hybrid (fuel cell/electric) truck 30 years ago. Hybrid (gas/electric) technology works and cuts fuel costs.

We just bought a new truck and asked for a hybrid truck. No one has them even though the technolgy has proven itself.

These fat cats squeeze every last dollar from the working folks and then don't have to pay taxes on their windfall profits. Let's decrease the National Dept by taxing oil profits!

I think it may be a good test on Obama, he controls the national reserve oil. He can release some of the reserves to keep the prices down. Then, the oil profiteers lose the assets. He needs to prove whose side he is on.

$4.00 a gallon of gas would be cheap if you could go 100 miles on it. The US owns 60% of GM, let's start producing 100 MPG trucks that folks can afford. !

For anyone that missed my point in my thread...........it's to show that the higher gas prices that are felt around the world is not controlled by political parties of who is in control in Washington.

During Bush's Presidency and when the Republicans were in control of Congress..............the left wing Dem's were quickly to blame the Republican's of the higher gas prices -- even though every non-arab country had high prices too.

Now we have a Dem controlled Congress with Dem President, and gas prices are 75/80 cents more today than a year ago and rising.

There is more to higher gas prices than what political party is in control in Washington. -- Look at the rest of the world and the higher gas prices if you do not believe me.

I don't blame the Dem's for the gas prices unlike you Dems who blamed the Republicans when gas prices rose.

I do blame the dem's for the changes and policy they are making that is eroding this country away. They warned everyone that there will be change -- now we have to live with it.

In 1980 there was a gas "shortage". I worked 50 miles away. I bought a Nissan (720?) bare bones with air. It got 44mpg back then.

gas prices

It's not the answer but drilling would help. The Russians and Chinese drill in international waters in the gulf of mexico but the USA cannot because of the democrats. Hussein said he would open up drilling but there is not much oil in the places the chosen one opened up. Here is an idea. Drill where the oil is. Global warming is a myth in order for people to make money. Look at how rich our former VP has become as one example. This earth has survived for millions of years and will be here long after humans die off. Did you know the ice caps are growing back? Bet you did not hear that from the democrat controlled media.

I believe battery technology could easily be upgraded. GM or Toyota may need to buy my battery patent. LOL.

My point is that you can't buy a fuel effiecent vehicle.

Obama can control the oil prices, Clinton controled them. The National reserve is a lot of oil that could be put on the market.

What really needs to be done is to dump the national obcession with gasoline powered vehicles and an oil based economy. There are better ways.

That is cheap compaired to most other countries and cheap compaired to our health care. The American people have proven they don't care what gas costs. They are going to buy gas guslers and pay the price. Here the most of the cars and pick ups get more like 20 mpg or less and people gripe but they buy vehicles that drink the gas.
Atleast on gas you can do something about it. On health care you can't keep from getting sick and look at how they rip us off and nobody cares as long as they are the ones that can afford insurance. No gripeing about a stent smaller than a paperclip costing $3000.00 and $36000.00 to be put in ( takes less than an hour. SOOOOOOOOO you think you are going to get people to stick together to do anything about the corporations ripping us off I think you are wrong BUT I wish you the best of luck. They have us to far devided between the haves and have nots........

Sure we could have vehicles with much better mpg. In fact, last week I read an article on stricter fuel efficiency requirements being implemented by the current administration.

Why we are more dependent on fossil fuels than other countries is complicated, but obviously a large part of the puzzle is our geography, a history of cheap fossil fuels, and a population density that probably did not support mass transit until recent times.

Gas $4.00 a gal. Maybe no one noticed but a bill was introduced in the senate to raise federal taxes another $1.00 a gal. Can't remember who intoduced it but do remember it was co-sponsered by a Dem. and a Rep. I seen it once on the news about 2 or 3 weeks ago. Haven't seen anything since.

In response to the last post by the Seeker

Regressive taxes have been increasingly common in a country without civic interest nor the educational levels to understand complicated tax schemes, however I sincerely doubt a tax with such a widespread economic impact would ever pass the congress. However, it does bring to light the need for funding for our crumbling infrastructure.

I commend your interest in economics/politics, however:
If you believe a quick fix can cure a problem/situation that began contemporaneously with the industrial revolution and which affects absolutely every sector of our economy (including globally), you are naive.

Also why they dont want diesel. If they will stoop to legalizing drugs for tax revenue then this is but a drop in the ocean of oil.
