Anybody on here hunt black and tans

Just curious if anyone hunts black dogs I do and was wondering if anybodys else does and what some bloodlines are of your dogs and how your hunting is going.

Dan there are a few of us on here I guess. I hunt mostly dogs that go back to Screaming Bo, and also mix in some of Carl Minehart's old breeding like Tiger Lilly, Super Sting, and Walker's Black Bull. I do also have a young female that I'm liking pretty good out of Kansas Junior and a Northern Rex daughter that I used to own. This pretty much cover what I hunt and feed. How about yourself?

Why, of course!!

Our Black and Tan is CH'PR'Clayton's Dark Hollow Destiny.

Her daddy is CH NTCH'PR'Henry's Big Ridge Little Man who is direct out of Two Time Albert.

Her mama is GRCH'PR'Clayton's Dark Hollow Jill who is direct out of Dark Hollow Hobo's Hoss.

Here she is treed on a coon on the banks of the Little Tennessee River.

Here she is treed on a coon when she was 15 months old.

Hey guys appreciate the posts I have a 15 month old out of Ed Ables Cochise and a 8 week old pup out of Kansas junior. How do you like your junior female and what kind of hound is she.

My Junior pup is getting ready to turn 8-months-old. I haven't started hunting her at night yet, but I should. She is treeing on released coons, house cats, and squirrels. She doesn't have the kind of mouth that I'm used to in the other hounds, but she is extremely natural about treeing, and that means a lot to me.

They say Junior has a great mouth, but I had a male pup out of him a couple of years ago that also had a mouth that didn't suite me. Probably just my bad luck. This female has a good enough mouth to do whatever you want with, but once you get used to dogs with big mouths it is hard to fool with one that doesn't have one. In this case it probably isn't Junior's fault, because the mother of this pup didn't have a great mouth either.

Yep.

I own 2 hounds, both half sisters out of the same mother. Their mother was double Combs' and Smith's Smokey bred (and a littermate to PWC's dog). The 3 yr. old female is out of Billy George's Hoss, so it was an uncle x neice cross. The 11 mo. old female is out of Ron Myers' Hoss dog. I got a website on them:

http://www.geocities.com/smokey_power/

Hunting here is DRY. The easiest walking is down the dried up creeks. I've seen some creeks dry for the first time, in 15 years. Its also HOT. The thermometer says 105 as I type this and its been this way off and on for a few weeks. But, I've been treeing coons nearly every time I turn loose and seeing quite a few kittens also.

My stock goes back to the Screaming Bo stock and Fiddler. I have a pair of Hobo Hoss females I like which one is a full sister to Jr. and Gem.

How's your Cochise pup coming along, Dan?
Are you getting Bruce out in the woods with that female?

Nice pics. John D. They look pretty "intense".

My dogs go back to "MY" dogs,"MYdogs,"MY dogs for so many generations......., now I remember they go back to dogs like Bloodworth's Black Bill,Big Timber,Nora and McDonalds Little Cole Now have some of the New blood in there lightly such as Raging Blk Hoss and others. My females have never "been to town" much.

How many have peds with these old dogs on there????

I TO HUNT 1 BLACK DOG LINE BRED SCREAMING BO AND FIDDLER. HE IS THE MOST NATURAL I HAVE EVER OWN. THIS IS MY FIRST BLACK AND TAN HE IS 2 YEARS OLD. A BEAUTIFUL MADE DOG AND GRAND SHOW CHAMPION. 8 SHOWS. HE CAN MAKE A COON LOOK EASY TO TREE. IF HE IS IN COON HE DOESNT HAVE TO GO A MLE TO TREE. EXTREMELY HARD TREE DOG. THE THING I LIKE ABOUT HIM HE LOVES TO PLEASE ME. HE IS ALITTLE HARD HEADED. I WENT LAST NITE AND MADE 3 TREES AND TOOK 2 COON. COULD NOT FIND ONE. ANOTHER FAULT? IS HE MAY BE A LITTLE TO INDEPENTENT. HE PAYS NO ATTENTION TO OTHER DOGS. BUT HE HASNT BEEN HUNTED WITH MANY DOGS. HE WILL TREE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY OR NIGHT. VERY GOOD NOSE. I TREED A COON AT 2:30 IN THE AFTERNOON WITH HIM AND SAW IT. I AM WORKING TOWARD THE NIGHT HUNTS WITH HIM NOW. THIS DOG WAE 19 MOS. OLD BEFORE HE WAS HUNTED. LIKE ALL DOGS HE DOESNT ALWAYS PERFORM AS I THINK HE CAN. IM ALWAYS WONDERING WHAT I CAN DO TO PUSH HIM TO GO THAT EXTRA MILE FOR ME. HE ALWAYS DOES SOMETHING TO MAKE THINGS HAPPEN.

Hey sounds like some good stock out there.

Bryan I hope to get him out this weekend its been pretty hot down here just hard to get Bruce fired up, but that gyp needs to be hunted I think she is going to make a dandy little dog.

My cochise pup I have hunted the last to nights by himself and its been a challenging experience.

Hey Bryan I was wondering if you were going to be breeding Luke to any of your females in the future. I didnt know if you yourself were going to raise many puppies. I have to many right now but I want to try a male out of Luke and I only buy puppies. It wont be anytime real soon I have to see if this cochise pup is going to suit me if he is not he will be cancelled out. I would probably try a female and if I get a pup from Lawton then I will have to many pups. Well I was just curious I really like Luke and would love to raise a pup out of him.

We hunt the Myer's bred hounds crossed on Comb's and Smith's Smokey stuff.

I like the Hoss II dogs 'cause they have a lot of tree in 'em. Our Nite Ch Ragin' Rex dog is a load of fun to hunt with, and he's got the greatest personality.

I've got 3 right now, and black dogs are all I hunt. I have a 5 yr. old male out of Jet, a 9 month old male out of Rex, and a female that goes back to Blackland Ernie and Jar's Mr. Magic. They are all a little bit above below average...

Yes, she has. However, due to the extreme heat (over 105 heat index all week), and her inexperience (and mine), she's lost several by suffocating them. Soooo, I only have two left, which I'm planning on keeping. That's all I was wanting anyway, one of each sex, which is what I've got, but I hated losing those pups. At least I don't have any decisions to make as to which ones to keep...

Well, I don't have a big enough box for this big gyp and a litter of pups I found out. She takes up more room than I thought. Live and learn I guess. Good luck with your pups.
