heating up a cold nose

i have a young plott. she seems to have a cold nose. it looks and sounds as though she is inventoring every prehistoric animal track in the woods. i wonder. will she learn to stop spinning her wheels on ghost tracks of gone game? it looks like she should because she'll never find anything at the end of the cold track and on the warmer tracks she would more often find game.
