If a dog returns to the same tree 3 times is he scratched in a UKC hunt!!!
I know he is in the other kc's. I have a buddy that says Ukc does not have this rule!

Its crazy but right about as bad as a dog can hang at your feet for 30 min. I have never liked those 2 rules

So what your saying is a dog can return to a previous scored tree as many times as he wants in a UKC hunt??

Yep, that is one I wish they would change but that is the way it is. It to me is just another reason people want such independant dogs. I guess if you have a dog that keeps going back just becouse the other one does you need to break them both or shoot them both anyway though. LOL

I hate to admit but I lost a cast at a RQE last weekend because of this situation. The judge scratched me with 6 min left in the hunt and I had 575+. Not his fault tho, my fault for not knowing the rules!! I thought I knew the rules pretty good but I guess not! Hard lesson learned!!

That was a wrong scratch... They can go back without penalty in UKC.... Many on here have lamented this over the years and tried to implement some kind of penalty such as other KC's have....

But the flip side to that arguement is , if your dog is going back to a previous tree , my dog can be treeing a new coon and shut you out and that in itself ''IS'' the penalty.

Oooh Steve. Yea, that would be a tough one, especially, now knowing what you do know. If it ever happens again follow the right procedures to get it corrected. The judge also needs to be made aware that it was the wrong call so that he doesn't wrongfully scratch another handler for that. I like your attitude though Steve in taking a part of the responsibility for not knowing yourself. Wish more handlers carried that attitude instead of complaining how they "got took" by a judge who didn't know the rules.
